This match might give him some confidence and form. He has the ability, just not been showing it.

Honestly can't see Pakistan getting anywhere near Australia. Of course there can always be an upset, but I just can't see Pakistan's bowlers troubling Aust with the bat or their batsmen fearing well against the Aussie bowling. I can even see Aust getting up if they're below par.

Tipping it to be the biggest margin of the quarters, even more than India's against Bangers.

India to beat Bangladesh - probable
NZ to beat the West Indies - probable (& I don't believe in jinxes thru internet forums)
Sri Lanka to beat South Africa - I think a pretty good chance of this happening
Pakistan to upset Australia in a low-scoring game

The thing with this Pak attack is they have legit bowlers with no freebies. Maxwell won't fire against pak I can't see it. He is a spin basher and Pakistan quick bowlers all hit 140+. I do think the batting may struggle but the bowlers wont lose the game if they can post a decent total.

I know it sounds nice and nostalgic, but what's your rationale for Pakistan beating Australia? What area do you think they may have an edge?

Firstly, Maxwell is just one of 7-8 good batsmen & nobody is necessarily suggesting he'll hit a 50 ball hundred against Pakistan, but there's nothing to suggest he'll struggle. He's bashed fastest better bowlers around than Pakistan's attack.

Secondly, 140+ doesn't bother Australian batsmen, they face quicker & better bowlers than Pakistan's at state level.

He's been due since 2006 ffs. Good bowler, just Southee on steroids with the bat - a random slogger who comes off every now and again spectacularly but more often than not fails. I mean, even if he peeled off a ton against australia, would you say that means he's in form or is likely to be consistent from there on in the tournament? Of course not, because he's so hit and miss (misses much more than he hits tbf).

So do South Africa and look what happened to them.

Maxwell has the ability to take a game away quickly getting him easily will be a good bonus. Aussie bat deep but they have a lot of stroke makers who go hard. They aren't the most reliable batsman around. Clarke and Watto aside that is or maybe Smith. You're dreaming if you don't think Pak have a chance. Even if you end up being right it's a foolish thing to say.
