If you pick Symonds and no Watson, then M Waugh has to play over Hayden.

The big difference between the two for mine is their bowling. Yes Waugh is a better ODI batsman than Watson.M Waugh plays ahead of Watson no matter what. Superior batsman, very useful bowler and one of the greatest fielders in history. You don't leave someone like that out.
They're not. Thread descended into a sensible discussion about Australia's all-time XI.Like seriously, I know Maxwell has a dick-load of raw talent but how the **** are people genuinely considering this!?
Disgusting. They're not. Thread descended into a sensible discussion about Australia's all-time XI.
Jesus. Just use your super mod powers to delete the thread then. Bitchy, FFS.They're not. Thread descended into a sensible discussion about Australia's all-time XI.
I can take people holding onto Hayden as a pure better opener than Watson, esp. on the back of his World Cup in 2007.Hayden's at best the 4th choice opener. Mark Waugh and Shane Watson both comfortably eclipse him as batsmen IMO before you start considering their bowling.
New thread?I can take people holding onto Hayden as a pure better opener than Watson, esp. on the back of his World Cup in 2007.
But before that renaissance, his record was pretty ordinary really. And when you think about how much Watson's been injured over the past ten years, he already has more ODIs than Hayden...
Tbf, he doesn't set up the boundary ropes.Nah, small boundaries counts against him too much.
