Likely quarter final match ups

If, and that's a huge ****ing if, Pakistan makes it to the Semis, I would LOVE for us to face India. All the other WC encounters between the two teams was dress rehearsal. I'm pretty sure the ICC doesn't even give them official match status. Only the next one counts. WE SHALL HAVE OUR REVENGE!!

I'm still the most wary of South Africa. Their bowling might be a little weak but they could get things right.

I'd much as I'd love us to beat South Africa in the semis and the convicts (or dumb slog millionaires) in the final, I would also take great satisfaction about playing and beating WC nemeses Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Well in fact I'd be thrilled to beat the likes of Ireland and Bangladesh if it meant NZ won.

That whole Mauka campaign is a serious masterstroke btw, the fact that they did it from a Pakistani guy's perspective just wins them over and gives them great leverage when it comes to their media coverage.

The revenge only comes in a post test defeat ODI series :p

All this talk by AB of SA being the best team at the WC is just making me sure they are setting themselves up for a big fail. What's with AB and these kind of comments after being thrashed?

I think he said something similar after they lost 4-1 down in Aus a few months ago, was weird as hell.

I think its just AB's way of deflecting pressure by being overly bullish? Idk but yeah I agree, if SA get eliminated he's gonna have to answer serious questions, would laugh if he says they were the best team at that point as well.

Huh? SA's bowling is their saving grace at the moment. Steyn, Morkel, Philander and Tahir are all dangerous ODI bowlers. It's their batting (AB aside) that's looking worryingly wobbly.

The cyclone's meant to arrive a day too late for Ireland's purposes. The forecast for sunday isn't great anyway - and Napier has pretty poor drainage - but I suspect there'll probably be enough time to get a game in.

an upset here is pointless. Screw having to cop Sanga in the form of his life in a quarter final
