Btw. what extremely ****ty calls in pitch pitch that was. Spin friendly 250ish pitch my ass.

I think the Australians were extremely lucky that they have the likes of Maxwell who doesn't let that kind of things affect him and bats the way he does.

England play their quarter at MCG IF they qualify. Sri Lanka at Sydney. Australia at Adelaide and NZ at Wellington.

I do love how everyone is commenting about how maxwell took the time to play himself in when he did an inside out lofted drive on his 7th delivery.

Well work sucked, but not too concerned we lost this one, always thought if we lost the toss they'd go big and bat us out of the game barring a Sanga miracle or something similar, nice to see Chandimal in the runs too, didn't think he had it in him to pull something like that off - anyone know what his injury is like? This performance tells me the batting is working fine, the hugeness of the chase probably contributed to us falling comfortably short in the end but it sounded like we were in it till about the last 10 overs. This 7 batsmen thing just has to stop, the bowling is so weak and selection like that just makes it weaker, we desperately needed another seamer today, hopefully phatty is all good by the QFs too. Playing SA at the SCG won't be a bad result for us.

I don't think wasim akram can really compare height-wise to starc. Dude is a giant.

Which is kinda what makes him so frustrating with the red ball. With the amount of natural attributes and sheer natural ability he has, he really should be a beast in any form.
Wasim was pretty tall. As far as I know, Starc is 6'6" and Akram was 6'4". Not a huge difference.

What has Smith done recently except getting a bag of runs vs an average India bowling attack? He made a 68 at a 80 SR.. Sanga has made 2 consecutive 100s and is among the top runscorers in the WC, made 1500+ runs in Tests last year. In Tests and ODIs, Sanga is well above Smith on current form.
ahahahaha

Sanga is such a gun.

No idea what to think about Maxwell, but obviously he is been red hot awesome for the past year. Good on him for getting the ton.

yes, of course, i bow to your "all smith has done is score runs against india" logic. your superior viewing of cricinfo cricket confounds me.
Half his test tons have been vs India - it's just fact. He's only 25 and has the potential to be great but to say he's better than Sanga (on current form or overall) is plain inaccurate. Only AB is.

The Aussie batting was mighty impressive, the way Clarke played makes them seem unstoppable. If Smith or Clarke can bat deep they have so many brutal batsman who can bat around them and it makes it mighty difficult to restrict them (definitely not talking about Johnson or Starc though who the commies like to think are Viv Richards types which is a joke).

Their batting does seem the more ominous suit but that's probably just ODI cricket these days, they have some excellent bowlers and the fielding makes even Glenn Maxwell difficult to score off.

righteo so we're going to ignore literally all the cricket he's played in the last 18 months except against india?

i mean, i don't think he's in better nick than sanga (though he's not fair off), which is what was originally discussed. but "he only scored runs against india" is such a patently absurd starting point that one can't help but laugh.

I was talking about current form and not ignoring his performances vs SA - just that his most recent opponents were India. He's in good form, but not close to Sanga in either format.

As good as Smith is he is not on Sanga's level, that is easy to see lets be honest Sanga is an ATG and he's playing as well as ever
I would agree, Smith is a very good player and IMO will be a great for Australia in the future but Sanga is a better player( really difficult to compare the two considering the stages of their careers)
