2 hundreds in the Asia cup (including the final) says hello, in any case a consistent starter is of more value to a team stacked with middle order greatness IMO

It's more that I don't believe Tharanga can do the job at the end while Thiri is versatile.

They are both a bit block-bashy, thirimanne is the better opener but tharanga is probably a better all-round odi batsman

Yea well it's impossible to move Thiri now that he's done well.. Tharanga probably won't get a chance though since Dimuth hasn't done anything to make them drop him..

7 specialist batsmen works - SL got 300+ twice in a row. Dimuth does his job..

I don't think you lose a lot by replacing Herath with Sena anyway but it does remove the option of actually playing two spinners if he's out.

And I find it hard to understand viriya's beef with Dimuth when Chandimal is just as much of a passenger in the side atm, at least Dimuth did well in the lead up games, pretty frustrating how the selectors continue to replace dead weights with more dead weights when quality such as Satchi sits on the sidelines

I think if we ever wanted to play two spinners together, Sydney is the place to do it isn't it? Here's a thought guys about the 7 batsmen debate- provided our top 5 go big, what is wrong with having a poorer bowling line up? Haven't india done that for years? They don't care what the opposition scores, they just knock them off/ score a huge total if batting first and apply pressure with the bowlers they have rather than trying to bowl teams out( this isn't the case now as their quick bowlers shred decent now). If we improve our fielding, wouldn't this work?
What was either lakmal and Buttler yesterday ? See he has been fined and it stated he didn't show remorse, do you think there was previous ?

No i disagree as they are good at playing swing bowling, their weakness is playing spin and IMO there is only Smith and Clarke in their current team who are good players of spin. Add to that the fact that Sydney wickets do tend to assist spin, two spinners would be good- we certainly dont want Ajantha as he will be too quick on these wickets and will be cannon fodder. Anyway, I dont think Herath will be out for too long will he?

This was before I knew how bad Herath's injury was. Bowling hand index finger - even when he comes back he might not be able to rev it up well.

Was never a huge spinner of the ball anyway, but ideally he'll rest until it fully heals and doesn't impede him at all, which gives Satchi a chance in the meantime I guess

yeah but our quicks cant swing it like boult and southee, in fact no one apart from maybe Starc and Philander can and the latter , certainly not at the pace they swing it. We have had success against Aus in the past thanks to our spinners and their lack of batsmen(bar smith & clarke) who are good players of spin..

This is just bull****.. I get that Ajantha's bowling is not suited to Aussie conditions but Prasanna gets picked over him???

This makes no ****ing logic whatsoever..and don't even tell me he's a better batsman - Prasanna is a useless pinch-hitter if there ever was one.
