We could have scored more but full credit to Steyn and co. here. There isn't an international team in the world who could've managed 340 from the 40th over against this level of death bowling.

320 should've happened though,
Na no credit at all. Steyn bowled well but he was given inroads to bowl at the Indians. They weren't trying to change his line or go after him, they lost wickets and gave South Africa an inroad.

NZ, SA and Australia would have all backed themselves to do better in the last 10 there.

Can't wait for the second innings and really glad I got in on India at 3.3, let's do this.

Got a feeling India have 20-30 runs too many for SA.

This is really a key test of whether India are genuine world cup contenders - they have a decent score. Can their bowlers (and they have five genuine bowlers) defend this score ? History tells us that this score is damn good at the MCG so there really isn't much excuse for not defending it.

Nah, didn't you see how many times Dhawan tried backing away to leg and how Ashwin was shuffling all over the crease? Steyn was genuinely great today in the slog overs.

Just need to watch that one over against RAHANE (which included a 6) to see how well Steyn bowled. Rubbish to suggest India ALLOWED Steyn to bowl well.

If you consider Shami and Ashwin as specialist batsmen, then yeah, you can suggest we allowed him to bowl well, otherwise you're just being delusional here.

KEy for India is gonna be the opening spell for Umesh and Shami. India's best bowlers (certainly going on economy rate) are Mohit, SIr and Ashwin. If the opening two get a couple of early wickets, India in with a big chance.

"I think in Melbourne we have seen that sustained momentum throughout the innings has probably been the successful way," Kohli said. "Teams that have tried to slug it out in the last 10 usually don't end up pulling off that many runs, especially teams that are not familiar to these conditions, because there's more bounce, the boundaries are bigger, so it's not that easy to clear boundaries on a regular basis."

I have to rate india favs 75/25. Big score, big ground and SA for their awesome averages don't have the best chasing record.

Still they can do it I just don't think it's likely
