I don't like Rahane. I don't dislike him either. He's like a commute to work. You have to go through it to get anything worthwhile done, even though it's a bit of a non-event.
Nah. Ridiculous. Anyone who says they don't like Rahane is either lying or losing some brain cells through rust.

Nah rahane is class. I have no problems with kohli being a wanker but I love watching rahane bat. Proven himself in tough batting conditions too unlike kohli.

This was actually brilliant, ftr. Not just a Jono thing.

One of the bays were absolutely ****ing atrocious. Every time Kohli got on strike, it was another "Kohli's a wanker" chant. The whole Australian innings was "yeah Kohli, you better not field on the boundary you wanker". Every move he made was booed relentlessly.

Now I get that the 'wanker' chant is quite accurate. I get that he's not easy to like and is especially easy to despise as an opposition fan. But to boo him as he brought up a pretty damn impressive century proved that the ****s getting tanked on their Carlton Mids and back-slapping for their inventive anti-Kohli chants could not give two ****s about cricket. It was disgusting.

The ***s booed Rahul on making his ton too, and he's done nothing to get on the bad side of the Aussie fans. Pretty sure they booed Rahane on occasion too, and who the **** doesn't like Rahane?

India and Australia don't have the greatest of relationships on the cricket field, but the fans shouldn't descend to those depths.
Yeah hate this sort of rubbish. I experienced sonething similar when I was at the 2011 WC quarter against Australia. I booed Ponting vociferously throughout his innings.... That's fair game. But when he got to his hundred I applauded him for playing an amazing knock. The applause around the ground was thankfully loud and drowned out the idiots booing him who were in my section. The boos were even more pronounced at the presentation ceremony and I was ****ing embarrassed.

Booing any player after he's done well just comes off stupid. And I have to agree, who the **** boos Rahane and Rahul?

An inquisition is in order really as far as the pitches go in this series. Quite a few batsmen having a field day and good bowling not getting rewarded. This game looks as though it's hurtling for a bore draw.

After last year's test match at the SCG finishing on day 3 this one was always going to be a very flat deck.

Highlight of the day was Kohli posing to the bunch of tools calling him a wanker and booing him all day when he brought up his century.

What a guy.
That was what prompted the loudest Kohli's a wanker chant of the day.

None of the chants were particularly creative but when a team crawls to ~50 runs in 30 overs throughout a morning session then a crowd is going to get restless.

it's a little unusual (and ****ty as ****) for them to boo someone who gets to a hundred though. __________ is a wanker is so common it's really just background noise by now though
Crowd in the bays around me were applauding Kohli getting to 100 with a smattering of boos from drunken idiots.. Then he threw his arms out at us, which of course got a lot of boos and got the entire few bays chanting Kohli's a wanker and booing him.

I wonder what Little Davey Warner makes of this
Warner was loving it out on the boundary. Especially joining in when we were chanting 2-0 at the small group of Indian supporters a few bays across.

I was sitting in Bay 13, there was no boos from anyone around at Rahul when he scored his ton. There wasn't a lot of applause either but it was respectful. Don't recall any boos at Rahane. As i said above, mostly everyone was giving Kohli his due and giving him a clap. Then he posed which brought on a massive amount of boos and wanker chants.

Nah, the events surrounding this summer really do mean that most people involved in the game should get a bit of leeway. Scheduling changes would have recked the plans of curators, CA would have wanted 5-day pitches to make up for the rescheduling dramas etc.

No need to run around like the sky's caving in and Australian pitches are now all roady-roads. If it continues again next season, then yeah, the discussion might become relevant.

Still makes it boring to watch though.

At least on roads in the sub-continent I can enjoy quality spin running through sides. This doesn't really have that yet due to how slow the spin is. Have to see how it is on day 4 and 5.

Reckon Kohli's a dom or a sub with the girlfriend? Obviously gets off on a ton of abuse. Not sure if jeering him is the smartest move.

Say what you want about the pitches, I certainly don't think the series has been boring. Granted we've made it entertaining by collapsing on a heap at times. I'd have preferred spicier surfaces but Fmd I've been entertained for the most part. This thinking that runs=boring is weird. There've been 2 results which have been possible because of the sheer pace at which both teams have scored and often even on these supposed bowlers' graveyards, Australia's top order have found themselves in heaps of trouble only for the tailenders to bail them out. Been the reverse for India.

Regardless it's been fun to watch for me. You blokes saying its been a bore because Mitch hasn't got a 10-fer every game must be miserable ****s. Watching Kohli and Rahane demolish Johnson's bouncers repeatedly was incredible to watch no matter how batter friendly the pitch was. Watching Warner perform repeated anal examinations on Shami and Yadav and Aaron has been amazing to watch even though the pitches are roads.

So will Smith v Kohli be the batting rivalry of the next ten years? I think I have more confidence in Kohli sustaining his touch over time.

Pretty sure it's going to be Williamson v Kohli for the next decade. Smith v Rahane the other one to watch for, with Root thrown in there as well.

I think it'll be Kohli v Smith because Williamson will be better than them both anyway.

And though Smith obviously had it easier than Kohli in terms of the bowling he faced, most of the time he was batting, it just looked like there was no way to get him out. Never got that with Kohli.

Yeah Smith's had some easy runs on the tour but the fact that he's just been ruthlessly amassing them without even looking like being in any sort of trouble is what's so scary about his form. No doubt he'd be scoring a lot of runs even if we happened to bowl well.
