I can't think of anything you can do to a cricket ball on a cricket field covered in TV cameras that'd put it out of shape though.Yeah my edit was a bit late. I added that I wouldn't be surprised if NZ are putting the ball out of shape somehow on purpose when they've decided they don't like it. Look at the timing of when it gets changed.
We still have a long way to go to get a 260 run lead. Plus this pitch is playing really well so if SL bat sensibly there is no reason why they can't chase this total down.agree, i actually think anything over 260 will be tough for us tbh
As Smithy just said, all Cricket boards using Kookaburra are having similar issues with the ball.I don't think it's the quality of the ball. Two years ago New Zealand pioneered a new secret method to whinging about the ball that was successful and now other teams are clicking.
I swear they've figured out how to put the ball out of shape on purpose.
Ball isn't swinging? Get ball changed
Partnership? Change the ball
Bored? Change the ball
Yeah but no team is going to change a ball if they're bowling well with it. Even if it would be worthy of a change.Yeah my edit was a bit late. I added that I wouldn't be surprised if NZ are putting the ball out of shape somehow on purpose when they've decided they don't like it. Look at the timing of when it gets changed.
The reason I disagree with this is that it's only Day 3. And anything less than 300 means we're out before the end of today. On the target, what gives me hope is chases around and over 200-250 are never easy. I can't remember the last time a side cruised to victory in New Zealand chasing something that wasn't terrible.
300 will be very hard at the Basin.
Neither, but McCullum is incredible at getting the ball changed to one that swings.I can't think of anything you can do to a cricket ball on a cricket field covered in TV cameras that'd put it out of shape though.
It IS day 4?The reason I disagree with this is that it's only Day 3. And anything less than 300 means we're out before the end of today.
If this was Day 4, and we're talking about 300 on a Day 5 wicket, I agree - those 15 wickets on Day 1 accelerated the schedule of the game, meaning history can't really be used as a great indicator on what we expect from a fourth innings - a third innings score would probably be more likely to gauge.
Kookaburra too I believe. The difference was it being monsoon season. What balls do they use in SL? I remember when NZ toured there last both Southee and Boult were getting prodigious swing, a lot more than here.
think they use Kook's too but that may be due to the high levels of humidity maybe?not 100% tbhWhat balls do they use in SL? I remember when NZ toured there last both Southee and Boult were getting prodigious swing, a lot more than here.
It IS day 4?
Why do I think it's only Day 3? Weird. OK, that changes things - I still say anything less than 300 is Sri Lanka's game to lose.It IS day 4?
