Taylor really owes his high average to an amazing series against England, an amazing series against West Indies and not being "sucky" in any other series until possibly this one. That ball would've got plenty of set batsman out? In your dreams buddy, it was a ball that was well flighted and turned a little bit towards the top of off stump - most set batsman in the world would've played late and back to that delivery.

Since his great year in 2012, he's been decidedly average.
yes, taylor owes his average to all those times he scored lots of runs. funny that.

"All those times" - 3 years out of 10.

2014 when pretty much everyone not batting #2 for NZ made runs at an average over 40, he managed 35.

Sure, he's a great player and one of our best, but the hyperbole of him being better than Williamson or McCullum has to be severely questioned and to be honest, if his year goes like it did last year, you'll see him back down to an average of 41 by the end of it.

well this is getting pretty bad.

let this be a lesson to the idiots preparing day 1 green tops. win the toss, win the game. when you have an ATG play and ATG innings, you'll piss it in.
Sipthorpe thought his West Indies pitch was pretty cool because of NZ's quickfire 440. I blame Shannon Gabriel for this.

If Baz tons up here don't just give him the keys to the city, give him the Prime Ministership.

the last i checked 2015 - 2007 = 8, and Taylor has played a grand total of 3 test matches in the years 2007 and 2015, so really his career is 6 years and three tests.

I agree, Taylor has not been up to scratch of late. He did score a hundred and a fifty in UAE but aside from that he's been pretty ordinary.

This is simply a very good Test. I can see NZ getting to something close to a defendable lead, though that needs some proper application by the the Kiwi batsmen. I really should get some sleep at 'lunch', but I would be somewhat surprised and massively disappointed if this Test has come to a conclusion (or anything close to that) when I wake up.

I get the feeling with Taylor that as his career progresses he's relying more on his excellent hand-eye coordination and less on his technique and discipline (which was at its peak 2-4 years ago). Most batsmen go the other way around. This could make for a swift decline in his early thirties as has hand-eye degrades just a little.

Look at his century in the UAE - decides counter to prevailing wisdom he is just going to cut the spinning ball off the stumps all the time, and because his hand-eye is just so good he was successful with it. Whereas I think of his last century as captain in 2012, against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, as the pinnacle of his disciplined approach to batting.

Next I'll point you towards how misleading counting 2007 and 2015 is, and will point you to his record against all countries and how his away average is what hurts him, and in reply you'll probably shift the goal posts to suit your covertly racist agenda against "KFC Taylor" I believe you called him, tell us all about how you have more first class wickets than Mark Craig again (changing Bond's name to yours on ICC doesn't count David) and you'll then tell me all about how you've reported this post and I get another ban for calling a spade a spade.

That's what happens next.

Ugggghhhhhhhh
Even if, for the sake of math, we count 2007 & 2015 for 3 Tests, I would like to emphasise that we come to 7 years and 3 Tests......

"Misleading" - i.e when anyone makes a factual point that counters your own.
"Misleading" - i.e when you think you know a persons identiy when you actually don't.
"Misleading" - i.e when Ross Taylor is considered better than Williamson or McCullum as a batsman.
"Misleading" - i.e when anyone confuses Ross Taylor as giving half a **** about putting in the type of effort that McCullum, Watling and Williamson put into their game.

Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing.

Shannon Gabriel and Tino Best; hang your heads in shame. You guys were terrible.

They've made the groundsman and the blackcaps too confident ....

Speaking of pinnacles, this to and fro is setting new records for Cricketweb petty squabbling.
Meh, my crime is that I'll respond to anyone on the basis that I don't believe in "turn the other cheek" - his crime is in thinking he's capable of responding without getting petty and attempting to be personal. The moment anyone brings up Taylor he goes into this sort of mode.
