How good can lyon become

Ive always been suprised by how much critism lyon gets i know his not perfect but i always thought he was quite decent and hes certainly not the first spinner to struggle in the subcontinent(warnes record against india) but i think the one thing lyon has in his favour is because his so young(27) he should theoreticaly only get better because spinners typicaly get better as they age so with that in mind how good can lyon potentially become

Is a great spinner when his role is more of a holding/support kind of thing, usually at home or in places like SA, Eng and NZ, yet to be fully convinced of his ability to lead the attack in the SC although this performance helps, he is already very handy and is probably approaching his peak

probably the best spinner going around when there is some bounce.

He was superb this test. That's about his ceiling. Great to watch. He was really getting some rip on the ball, and it's just great to see an offie without a suspect action get success.

He's still 27. He's a baby relative to when spinners blossom. No way has he reached his peak.

Yeah but as a finger spinner whose main weapon is bounce it's hard to see how much better than this he can be, I suspect he'll develop more strategic and mental tricks as he goes on but his action probably won't change

Wasn't he working on a carrom ball with murali?

The mental game is where it's at when it comes to spinners. By the end of his game warne was relying mostly on the his legbreaks and straight ones.

Also lyon is probably the biggest spinner of the ball in australia now. He can rip it when he wants to.

Swann/Herath are different style of offies compare to Lyon. They both side-spin it more; Lyon over-spins it.

I imagine Lyon at his best will be someone who can build pressure on flat/slow/low tracks by being accurate and varying his flight and pace, getting a bit of turn when any is offered. And if there is good bounce in the wicket, he will come into his element, constantly probing on that good length just outside off and getting some deliveries to leap up.

Australia have a nice supply of left-handed quicks, so he should regularly have some footmarks outside off to attack.

If he develops a variation that skids on, it will hugely benefit him. More than a carromball/armball.
