I may have missed it, but what I heard was him saying in Sharjah quick bowlers are tested and only the toughest manage to come up with something special, be it movement, extra bounce or whatever.

Yeah, he started that spiel by talking about how Southee had bowled a lot more bouncers on Day 1 and had changed tactics, then he expanded to that as part of the broader point. It was very awkward.
