Lokomotiv's Proposed Changes to Cricket

judging technology of LBW and Wide-Ball

Technology is already used for LBW judgement. I think that technology should also be used for wide-ball judgement. And the wide-ball area in First Class and Test should be same as that of limited-over games.

Lol why do you need tech to judge a wideball. It's pretty obvious 99.9% of the time.

And no. In Tests the bowling side sacrfices their chances of taking wickets when they bowl legside, in return for controlling runs. It's a fare trade off. In limited-overs, where wickets usually matter less, it's not fair. Imagine being able to bowl wide of leg for the whole over when defending 15 off the final over? Massively unfair to the batsmen.

Test Cricket / How about Lions or Barbarians like teams?

In Rugby Union, there are British-Irish Lions and Barbarians.
How about such teams in Cricket? In particular, The Ashes would be better if they are played by a British-Irish team and an Oceanian team.

And it is sure that Test Cricket will decline in comparison with limited-over Cricket. So I think there should be some modifications for Cricket Laws in order to adjust Cricket for the limited-over era.8-)

I think the Ashes should be like the Ryder Cup and the US should play Europe - the Australians have no place in a major sporting contest

The normal awards that everyone else has
The Ashes should be renamed The Peter Lalor Cup. You British with your mining licenses can **** right off.

England is usually a composite British Isles/ SA/ Subcontinental/ WI team anyway.

Don't forget the New Zealanders, Australians and Zimbabweans who play for England too.

BTW, is this the first time in 25 years that more Kiwis than Aussies (6-5) would make an Anzac XI?

TBH the Lions idea would only really work if there was a Sub-Continent v ANZAC match, unless you started to try and lump England and SA or WI together (guess the ECB are ahead of the curve)

A Baa-baa's style team might work for the British summer tour, though TBH with likes of MCC fixtures etc its halfway to being implimented anyway

The SA-WI-England team could be a Trans-Atlantic XI.

Suppose, Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean teams? One way to divide it up - though slightly skewed to the Indian side of things.

Big drawback is the packed cricketing calendar and the fact so many players are playing in multiple countries all year round. Would make it difficult to arrange tours with the strength and prestige a Lions tour has in rugby, and I can't see the cricket fan being satisfied by one off encounters a la football fans.

If you want a team of barbarians then look towards the subcontinent. You'll find them in abundance.
