The amount of goalpost shifting from you is becoming borderline ridiculous. It's like "Sodhi played well, but not according to my rationale".Let's just settle with this is the best he's bowled in an NZ shirt and reserve judgement for how he performs if we're able to set a target to bowl at.
Well right now, it's spinning so much that any mildly accurate spinner is going to cause problems.I swear NcCullum would be an absolute handful on this type of wicket.
No real goal post shifting buddy, I've pointed out I don't think Sodhi is worth his spot in the side and I've pointed out that even when Sodhi bowls "well for Sodhi" it's not a match changing performance, it's just a reasonable one. This fourth innings will be a real test for him, because he's got conditions that suit, enough runs on the board for him to be all about the attack and a Pakistani team that may come after him.Stuff.
Horses for courses, look at Kumble and how effective darting bowlers in these conditions can be.Well right now, it's spinning so much that any mildly accurate spinner is going to cause problems.
Don't do this. The amount of goalpost shifting from you is becoming borderline ridiculous. It's like "Sodhi played well, but not according to my rationale".
Also with regards to your Wagner comment about getting him experience in conditions for a guy who's likely to be part of the side for 5 years, why does that not apply to Sodhi? I know there are other factors, but how dismissive you are of Sodhi, who has been NZ's best bowler on this tour, is actually quite sad in way. Do you support NZ or do you just support the NZ YOU think should be out there?''
Anyways, just like to add a point regarding spin in the subcontinent vs spin elsewhere. This myth that its a spinners paradise in the sub-continent only rings true to those brought up on those pitches IMO. The pace needed to bowl in the subcontinent is far quicker than NZ/Aus/Eng/SA where the bounce is more true, and the wickets are quicker. Hence why a guy like Shane Warne, who's natural pace is too slow for the sub continent didn't set the world alight as many expected. Likewise when you see guys like Jadeja and Harbhajan tour Australia and NZ and bowl 90kph and pretty much be neutralised. Flight and deception in the air are gonna get you wickets, wheres as quick turn off the wicket will get you wickets in the subcontinent. Ask most spinner what they prefer, slow turn or bounce and most will tell you bounce.
The reason I made this point is because somehow we (by we I mean Blocky if I'm being totally honest) are expecting Ish to win us games in conditions that are not his natural environment. In fact I would say it speaks volumes that he's adjusted to foreign conditions rather quickly. IMO Ish showing improvement is a great thing for the NZ Test team.
This is a Jadeja pitch, tbh. Would tear Pakistan a new one.Horses for courses, look at Kumble and how effective darting bowlers in these conditions can be.
Azhar has no clue against Leg Spin.
Craig is not doing well atm. Bowing both sides of the wicket and the occassional long hop. Not Pearce cup standard atm.If Crag could eliminate the two pies per over he's bowling atm he'd be a solid bowling allrounder
Was thinking the same thing. Need one more close to the bat. If nothing else, it puts a huge mental block in the batsman's mind and makes him wary of the fielder in the corner of the eye, especially when he's seen what's happening on this pitch.Only one man in close?
