**Official** Pakistan v New Zealand in the UAE 2014

So guys, has Sodhi entered discussions for being #notterrible?
I don't think he's terrible, I simply don't know how good or bad he is as it is such early days.

This season will tell us a lot about his progress, is structured quite well for him. Should get the 5 tests plus the full 10 rounds of Plunket Shield, including some late season wickets. In the space of 4 or 5 months he will increase his FC experience by about a third.

This may be a weird thing to say but on non-Asian pitches I think his height will work against him unless he does something clever like bowl from a full metre further back in the crease. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

I think he wouldve taken a lot more wickets were he not bowling to a batting lineup in god-mode. Younis is just outrageously good.

Again didn't see much play but seems like the right expression for yesterday is 'toiled manfully'. And this time with some success.

I know the Pakistan lower order isn't supposed to be good but have to think that if they approach batting the same way our tail did, they'll soak up time and gradually produce runs. I'm still hoping for a 50 run lead though.

I keep looking at that scorecard and am still not getting the feeling of doom I am so accustomed to. WTF is going with me?
yeah, awta, and I am generally quite a pessimist as far as our team is concerned. Although the last wicket of the day today was such a brainfart just when a couple of overs were left.

The wickets-to-brainfarts column is still heavily lopsided though.

I'm not optimistic it's just that Pakistan in these conditions in this form is equivalent to matching Johnson and Harris at the WACA or the ABs at Eden Park. Getting a win here would be a massive overachievement so I'm quite positive about our chances going into day 4.

Looks like Southee's getting a bit of reverse, hopefully that'll help with dismissing the tail tomorrow. Boult seems to think that 200+ will be competitive. Poor chap, the heat must be getting to him.

Haha well after ruthlessly thrashing your opposition 3 games in a row, being slightly behind probably doesn't feel that concerning at all.

Thats best performance in a New Zealand shirt two games in a row?
Yup - he's bowled much better in this game than he did in the last game, like I said - reasonable performance, about a 6 out of 10 in my view. But the real acid test will be when he's expected to break through on the final day and give us a chance at victory. That's what you select spinners for.

I'm actually interested to see what he does when he comes home into domestic cricket. If he can maintain the accuracy that he's shown so far in this series then he's twice as good as he has been previously, but we know conditions do suit him and the opposition were under pressure and not attacking due to finally having a team bat first, put on a reasonable score and get a couple early wickets.

Craig on the other hand has been dreadful.
