I'd like to see maxwell get a chance at number 3 on Australian pitches. He probably might not have the temperament for test matches but he might be able to play a few good innings against not so good quality bowling attacks.

Watson probably. Only question is, what would that do to Mitch Marsh? I'd take the risk of playing him largely as a specialist bat as he's been the only one who's really come out of this tour with much credit, but his actual FC career hasn't inspired that much confidence (yes yes I know a lot of those games were played when he was very young, but still....) and it's still somewhat risky to think he can handle being a specialist bat against the best attacks. Granted though, that probably isn't relevant for India

Tend to agree if he's fit. Looks amazing against quality bowling when others struggle.

While Hughes has his flaws a home Test series against India is close to the perfect scenario to once and for all confirm whether he is able to cement a spot in the Test team or not.

MMarsh strikes me as the kind of guy who relishes on a bigger stage -- he's been given a taste of Test cricket and has proven that he can score runs there in spite of his domestic record, so we may as well stick with him for a home series against India and see how he goes. Plus it eases the strain on Watson in terms of bowling -- they can split those 5th bowler overs.

I'd probably look to be easing Haddin out of the side post-WC, and tell Rogers that he's got credit up until the end of the next Ashes.

how has watson suddenly become a superior batsman to doolan? they have many of the same technical flaws, particularly in an over reliance on boundaries but doolan comes with out the obvious walking lbw target

i'm a mitch marsh fan but there's no way he and watson are in both in the top 6 best bats in the country, one or the other at 6 as an all-rounder and pick a recognised batsman at 3 (doolan)

having said this though, watson will definitely be batting 3 in the first test
