I've always believed no one should cast aspersions on players without proof or at least some reasonable basis....I wouldn't say Nadal is on performance enhancing drugs for that reason but some of these breaks are a little too convenient for me. After his very first slam win about a decade ago, he has missed AO, US twice and Wimbledon but never the French Open! Granted that the hard court season is a bigger part of the season in terms of time but over a career spanning this long it is surprising he's missed all slams but the French-by far his strongest surface. He also seems to return from injury and win everything in sight which is not evidence of anything in itself but compare that to say Murray or whoever and see how much time it takes to come back from injury and how difficult it is to find form, it is shall we say...surprising...too many little red flags there for me. That and all the time wasting between points, the dubious medical time outs not to mention the infamous grunting which the great game could do without and it's easy to see why he's not as universally as some of the others.

Really, what was the point of your first sentence?

It's classic conspiracy mumbo-jumbo, throw in a lot of facts not really connected to anything, then make a conclusion based on just there having been things happen, and suggest these things give us the good ol' red flags.

In the end if this is a genius plan from Rafa, I really don't get why he'd choose to miss a title he holds with everyone else in such **** form, or just being very old.

He really needs to sort these doping windows out a bit better, can I be his scheduler. It's quite easy really, plenty of gaps in there, of course you're being tested constantly during these breaks, but I'm sure I'll find a way round that.

Presume that means liked? He's easily, and I mean easily, the second most popular tennis player in the game. Novak and Murray aren't even close in terms of popularity or marketability. Fed trumps him but Fed is Fed.

See I thought that, but then Djokovic spent the next two weeks playing ****. Federer should probably be the favourite for the US Open now.
this result doesn't matter, djokovic has been very consistent at the slams irrespective of his other results and at this stage of their respective careers, novak is a better hard court player than fed…and federer has flattered to deceive at the slams this year...

Sharapova when asked about stats at her press conference at the USOpen said "what are stats, honestly that's why we have journalists to tell us stats", I knew here was a reason why we were made for each other.

I still think we're gonna see a Thomas Johansson-style champion this year.
With Murray, Berdych, Wawrinka and Djokovic in poor form, without Rafa/Potro, Ferrer not being what he was in 2010-13, Raonic and Dimitrov probably not ready to win Slams and Federer still feeling iffy and probably lacking confidence at Slam level after Wimbledon, you could be right.

I'd say Djokovic is my favourite to win, without a lot of confidence.

no activity in the tennis thread while the open is going on..?
I'm the only person interested in the Women's game, and the men's has been dull so far.

Surprised there isn't more chat about Krygios here though with all the crims, he genuinely is an exciting talent, and crucially building on Wimbledon.

US open time slot isn't ideal if you live in Australia + work normal times, so I've been following the results without seeing much at all. Hopefully I can find somewhere to watch Jerzy vs Kevin Anderson as I doubt FoxSports will show it.
