Silent Auction Draft

The normal awards that everyone else has
Can we bid the same and have an order of preference or just bid a dollar difference?
I'm imagining people are just going to bid everything they have left on the players they want. That's fine.

In that case, put them in order of preference. If two participants bid the same amount for the same player, I'll just randomise it to see who gets him.

5 of them were absolutely world class at some point in their careers. What a round to finish.

Apologies to Dan for stealing his format, but it was the easiest way to go.

Can't say this has gone particularly well for me. I've got a lot of decent players, just not a lot of very good players. The bowling is alright, and probably better than most real life bowling attacks around today, but the batting is shocking. As a result of that I think I'm going to have to blow $3.5 million on David Warner in the last round.

Price and Ritchie the main weak links. Other than that it looks fairly solid.

Some interesting line ups. Mine turned out reasonably well balanced at least - I like the flair of De Silva / Miller / Pataudi in the middle order. Bowling attack not too bad - Shoaib / Miller / Lock all quality. With my favourite 'keeper Junior Murray behind the stumps anything could happen. Only $47k left...

1 PA Jaques $186,001
2 KC Wessels $723,011
3 JF Reid $432
4 PA De Silva $2,400,504 (6)
5 KR Miller $6,000,435 (2)
6 *MAK Pataudi $833,333
7 GE Gomez $53,657 (5)
8 +JR Murray $1,100,046
9 GAR Lock $1,415,003 (4)
10 Shoaib Akhtar $2,200,006 (1)
11 KCG Benjamin $40,002 (3)

Total $14,952,430

Cap $15,000,000

Remaining $47,570

****.

I wanted to rid myself of Salman Butt...

Oh well, hopefully I can snag one of the seriously good quicks for my remaining $200k to get rid of Dominic Cork.

If you can convince me why one of the other players would be better for my team, I"m all ears.

Procter for Watkins would be a serious trade-up, IMO. Extra quick, deeper batting to offset Close up the top, captaincy material, and means Styris can play in his better role as a specialist bat without bowling much at all.

Boycott--Hazare--Ranatunga is strong enough to deal with, especially with morgieb batting Greg ****ing Ritchie at 3.

Plus Wes Hall and Mike Procter opening the bowling would mean Mills is less of a weak bowling link than he otherwise would be.

All irrelevant anyway tbh; someone else will outbid me for him even if you don't drop 3.5mil :p

I'd be going:

1. Johnson (6)
2. Sidhu
3. Sangakkara
4. Kallis (4)
5. Woolley (5)
6. Manjrekar
7. Pellew
8. Lilley
9. A Quick (2)
10. Finn (3)
11. Alderman (1)

Unless you're really confident on grabbing Warner for your remaining budget, that is.

Is the other opener Nip Pellew? I'd switch him with Manjrekar in the order. Not a bad side. If Neil Johnson is opening the bowling I'd prob try to get a bowler this round and bench either Hinds or Johnson. I like that you've got Hinds batting above Kallis though. I'd prob keep him in the line up just for that. I know you like Terry at 10 but I'd never have him batting above 11 unless you somehow manage to get Bruce Reid.
