***Official*** India in England 2014

"It's all up to Matt. He wants to carry on playing for England," Cook said.
I cannot believe Cook said this.

Basically admitting that himself and the selection panel are too spineless to remove senior players who aren't performing.

It is not Prior's responsibility you cretin. Remove him, just like any other selection panel in world cricket currently would.

Utterly astonishing.

Rahane's ton on day one was vital , the pitch was extremely difficult to bat on, India wouldn't have crossed 200 in the first innings without Rahane's fabulous knock. I think he deserved the man of the match.
Yeah I'm in this boat too. Feel that it's the one performance which deserves to be remembered as truly one for the ages. ATG knock.

Bhuvi and Ishant excellent too, but Rahane's knock made everything possible when it looked like we could get rolled for 200.

What a performance so proud!
Batting: Vijay, Rahane Kumar and Jadeja great performance

Bowling: Kumar and Sharma GREAT performance

England asked for green wicket and Kumar and Sharma really stepped up. Now India have only 2nd test win at Lords ever on the greenest wicket bob willis and Hussain said they have ever seen at Lords

Prepare a green wicket they said...Green wicket = India won ! haha
When did they say that?

I think England was bounced out because Sharma's spell was just like a slow motion replay of Mitchell Johnson and they got flash backs.

A year ago they were 3-0 up in a home Ashes series. I haven't seen a fall from grace like this since The Bonfire of the Vanities.

Yeah not a huge surprise I suppose, I understand why people want Foster or someone but it has got to be Buttler.

Please stop trying to rewrite history - there was no Ashes series in 2013/14 - they happen every two years and always have

I kept really well on Saturday and am being let go from work so would be available. Would score as many runs as Prior/Stokes.

He probably won't be back. I certainly won't be rude about him. He's clearly not been fit and he was a fantastic servant to England. A great player.

Some of the remarks about him stepping down (in replies to journo's) on twitter have been ridiculous. I think a lot of people have short memories.

Prior has been a legend, sadly age seems to have caught up with him. I doubt he will be back, hope he isn't as it means Buttler has taken his chance and is doing well.

I wouldn't get your hopes up - I doubt Buttler will last the series (assuming he's picked). However it will probably cement Cook's position as it will give succour to the "grass isn't always greener" arguments.
