It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

Cricketer Of The Year
TBF to KP that was a pretty reserved article. After Downton's ill advised comments the other week one would forgive KP for a bit of retaliation, but apart from a little dig at Flower he didn't really say anything out of line IMO.

Sounds like he's moved on and bears no malice..........which is a good place for him to be.

Is he allowed to write that article because the term of the CA has expired, or because the CA was terminated due to Downton's comments?

"Paul Downton and the ECB both apologise to Kevin Pietersen for those comments made that were in breach of the settlement agreement and have confirmed they will abide by its terms moving forward."

BBC Sport - Kevin Pietersen: ECB apologises over Ashes 'attitude'

Righto, so it wasn't terminated following Downton's comments. So its either expired, or the terms were not breached by KP's article because he didn't say anything negative about the ECB, management or the coaching staff. Other than a very slight Flower comment and the point that he thinks back-to-back Ashes was a mistake, he mainly talked about himself. Probably didn't breach anything.

The argument will never be put to bed until England either find some success without him, or he retires from cricket. I have a feeling the latter will happen first

I noticed in the original KP column in the telegraph he compares the situation of himself at the start of his career and with that of Buttler - and suggest Buttler should definitely be playing. Kevin Pietersen: Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes must be in the England Test side - Telegraph

I don't think the comparison is valid personally. Pietersen averaged 50+ in fc cricket and understood and knew his fc game when selected. Buttler still doesn't have any idea how he is playing. An average of 32.61? Hmm suggest someone who doesn't really understand his game too well in fc cricket or has obvious weakness. He just fences outside off at the 4th/5th stump back of the length and knicks off to the keeper slips too much a la Bailey.

Now Buttler will bat at 7 in test cricket so these deficiencies will matter less than a genuine bat like Bailey, Bevan, Morgan but he still needs to find a way to succeed regularly in first class cricket. At the moment he strikes me as a guy stuck between two pillars. He can't decide whether to bat like a proper bat or like he does in ODI cricket. Personally at his current point I'd tell him to go out there and be aggresive and play like he does in one day cricket. Don't worry too much about getting out and just play aggresively and put the bowlers on the back foot.

Until he knows and understands his 4/5 day game I wouldn't select him.

Of course his keeping is also poor at this stage and really needs to improve as well.

He's mostly played as a specialist bat though.
I don't think this really matters much. It's not so much that wicket keeping reduces your batting average as it is that you don't need to be as good a batsman if you're playing as a wicket keeper.

If he was a good gloveman then a First Class batting average of 32 that has climbed in recent seasons combined with an obvious high ceiling would be enough to put him right into contention IMO, regardless of whether he made those runs keeping or not. His glovework is pretty average at this point though so he need to either improve on that a bit or apply himself with the bat more to be an attractive package as a keeper/bat for Tests.

This is such a stupid decision. Whoever is responsible for this, didn't want to give him 7 home tests against SL and India's bowling.
No way you could have dropped him after he would have piled on about 4 hundreds this summer. Won't get a better time than now to use the "cancer in the dressing room" argument.

Anyway SL has a chance to pants England in a couple of months.
Need a KP troll face picture...

I've tried to work it out before and it seems like he doesn't even have twitter, or at least doesn't follow the people he always posts about.
