Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia

Well played from Australia, some great football there to watch from a young side. Chile just with that obvious extra class in front of goal that proved the difference.

Pretty poor from Cahill in his post-match comments I thought to label the Chileans as cheats. Chile were the better side and deserved their victory.

Missed the main one last night, was told it could have been 7 or 8. Fell asleep in the Chile v Australia game as had too many beers.

Spain to do a France 2002?

Also, remembering how much I fapped over Ozil last WC around this Alexis Sanchez. Please sign him Arsene

Or, if you prefer, an Italy in 2010.

In fact Brazil are the only reigning champs to make it past the group stages since 1994.

Was a reason ever given for Holland and Spain in away strips? Joked with the wife it was the ref wearing red and orange.

That RVP header was so sweet.

Spain to do an Italy 2010.

1-1 v New Zealand is still the greatest result in WC history.

Edit: or what Brumby said.
Australia were on a par with the Chilean side for most of their game and will be boosted psychologically (somewhat) going into their next game because of the courage that they showed after going 2-0 down.

Not so Spain. Spain are shot psychologically and there is no way back for them. Even if they scrape through the group phase then they will be vulnerable to the first confident team of quality that they meet. And that will most likely be Brazil.

He's called Mile though. Definitely the sort of thing competent staffers should catch.
True enough but he isn't wrong to call him Mike. Don't think its important except for those who want to make Abbott look bad when his lying is more than you'd need.

It's certainly not important by any stretch but together with that farcical D-Day thing it does call into question what exactly his staffers are doing

I just think his writer has fat fingers since the K and L are beside each other on the keyboard. :lamo:

Australia played well against Chile but Chile have a distinct lack of height in central defence and made a past it Cahill look more dangerous than he actually should be.
If the Aussies want goals against Holland or Spain I think they need a couple more direct, goal scoring options

Think the hype around Holland after the 5-1 has gone a bit overboard.
Basically they'll need Sneijder, Robben and Persie to firein every match because they're a bit suspect outside those three.
