Hmm. Nothing at all on hotspot, and a flicker on snicko is enough to confirm Mathews dismissal, somewhat fortunate I'd say. Ah well, bowled Jordeh.

4 catches for Buttler so far! He actually has a really good catches/game record for England. He is fast approaching Kieswetter in way fewer games.

Looking ahead to the Tests at Lord's and Headingley - are they prone to be more batsmen-friendly/swingy/spin-friendly than the typical Eng pitch?

Lords has been flat recently but the slope helps seamers if they get it in the right areas. Headingley always helps swing bowlers.

What terrible running, was an easy single. Good fielding from Ravi though. Anderson back on to finish them off now.

There is a theory doing the rounds that Jordan's got into their heads a bit, especially judging by the reaction the SL fielders gave him on Sunday.

Either that or they're trying to be really clever and kid everyone that they don't fancy his pace so that he plays in the tests ahead of someone better.

Not that I'm entirely sure who our better option for 3rd quick would be right now.
Or he could be quite a good, nasty fast-bowler. They often get gimmee wickets TBH.

Anyway this seems to be going quite well.

With the lineup England select it's always going to be hard to capitalise on these starts and roll over the opposition for really low scores. Tredwell and Bopara as 4th and 5th bowlers are containing bowlers and can be milked fairly easily and with low risk. More often than not the opposition will get to a below average but competitive total from this kind of scenario.
I think it also depends on who your opening bowlers are and how the captain chooses to utilise them.

Gurney, with all due respect to the lad, doesn't look the type to match what we saw from Anderson at the start of the innings, so the odds are even more against bowling a side out for under 100. Whereas a side with two world class openers may well have run amok today.

Beyond that, Cook should be thinking about bring back Anderson now instead of leaving him until the 41st over.

All that being said, if SL keep running themselves out, it'll all be academic.

Indeed x 2

In other news, this is really silly from SL. Give the weather forecast, they should be making every effort to bat as long as possible., not hole out trying to set 200+
