Neil Maxwell.

1. William Porterfield* (Ireland)

Dependable opener for Ireland. The fourth associate batsman to reach 2000 runs, although his county form has generally been patchy he lifts for his home country and has lead the country with dignity.

2. Kyle Coetzer (Scotland)

Top 3 batsman in county cricket, and rare international appearances. Has been described as the "most accomplished Scottish batsman of the modern era" and that his batting "is always a pleasure for the purist".

3. Derrick de Saram (Ceylon)

Was hyped up as one of the best Sri Lankan batsmen pre-Test cricket. Scored 128 for Oxford University against an Australian side containing McCabe, Grimmett and Fleetwood-Smith.

4. Brian Davison (Rhodesia)

Was a fast-scoring batsman, athletic fielder and part-time bowler for many years in county and Shield cricket, as well as for Rhodesia (where he failed to produce the same sort of form he did for Leicestershire, strangely). For whatever reason never played international cricket, possibly because of county commitments. After retiring from cricket became a Liberal MP in Tasmania (WAC).

5. Andy Waller (Zimbabwe)

A popular character highlighted by his entertaining batting and outstanding fielding, real life commitments and injuries curtailed his number of appearances. Was generally a regular in Zimbabwean lineups from their second World Cup onwards.

6. Kevin Curran (3) (Zimbabwe)

Zimbabwean all-rounder who represented his country in the 1983 and 87 World Cups and was one of the most effective international players in county cricket for over a decade. Unfortunately by the time Zimbabwe received Test status he was well entrenched in county cricket and wasn't tempted back. RIP.

7. Neil Maxwell (4) (Fiji)

Australian bowling all-rounder born in Fiji, he averaged high 20's with the ball in a pretty strong domestic competition.

8. Ashish Bagai (+) (Canada)

Dependable wicket-keeper for Canada and is also a solid batsman. Sadly the nature of associate cricket means that real life commitments have restricted his appearences for his home nation. In Davison's time at Canada Bagai was probably the second most assured and accomplished player for Canada and he added some finesse to Davo's fireworks.

9. George Dockrell (5) (Ireland)

Young, highly promising Irish spinner. Has spent some amounts of time in Somerset's side to some success. How long until England poach him? :p

10. Paul-Jan Bakker (2) (Netherlands)

The first Dutchman to play county cricket, he was a consistently class act for Hampshire for the few seasons he played for them and was their leading wicket-taker in 1989. Unfortunately his only ODI's were played when he was past his best.

11. Ole Mortensen (1) (Denmark)

One of the associate GOAT's. Averaged low 20's in FC cricket despite the vast majority of those games being in county cricket. Was rated by his then captain Kim Barnett as "the best bowler to have never played Test cricket".

Didn't really think this through as much as I should have.

He averaged 14...in Dutch domestic cricket. Now admittedly the wickets aren't the best (the country only has one grass pitch) but that should be a handy guide.

Anyway, allow me to pick an undrafted XI

Fred's Fertangs

1.Jeremy Bray

Australian born he scored a century against Zimbabwe in Ireland's successful 2006/07 World Cup campaign - didn't play a great deal of First Class cricket but averaged over 50 in the games he played

2.John Kerr

Stalwart of Scottish cricket for a quarter of a century from 1908 - Century and half century against Warwick Armstrong's almost all-conquering 1921 outfit, and yes he faced both Gregory and McDonald, albeit not in the same innings.

3.Ivan Anderson

Played between 1966 and 1982 and was one of the best Irish batsman ever averaging 37 in the First Class game - useful off spin as well

4.Clive Inman

Consistent county pro for Leicester throughout the 60s this Sinhalese once got a half century in 11 minutes, or something like that

5.+Tom Brierley

County player before and after the war, decent batsman/keeper who eventually played with distinction for Canada

6.*Gamini Goonesena

Fine all-rounder - got a blue from somewhere and is my tweaker - could only ever play four full seasons of county cricket in the 50s and did the double in two of them - my Dad played against him once in Ceylon - "he couldn't get me out because he turned it too far to either hit the stumps or for me to lay bat on ball"

7.Bart King

What might he have achieved if he was English or Australian?

8.Alec O'Riordan

All-rounder, good enough to have played county cricket, but he had better things to do in life

9.Dermott Monteith

Excellent slow left armer who had loads of self-confidence and who spent half a season with Middlesex at 38 proving he had a point

10.Soren Henriksen

Right armer seamer who had an excellent record against other associates - not quite good enough to force his way into Lanky's side, but he had some decent competition

11.Tommy Kelaart

Looks like we're not clear with what style he took the 16 years worth of wickets at 5 runs each, but does it really matter?

Mallie Jarvis should be in there if it was a "best of the rest" IMO.

Dougie Brown horribly ripped off by his England ODI cap too. Would make any of these XIs.

Michael di Venuto is a really cheaty one I thought of, but Australia randomly picked him for a few ODIs at one point, rendering him ineligible. It made me think of picking Gareth Berg but in the end I just don't think Berg is very good despite a decent First Class record so I didn't bother.

Another one I thought of - Trevor Penney is actually eligible for this, but he was 24 when Zimbabwe got Test status so only his career before that would've counted. I strongly considered picking him anyway and in the end he's a better cricketer than Rahmat Shah but he just didn't fit my balance.

Yeah, I had Trevor Penney on my lists too, and anyone should take him as their 12th man (if that was part of the draft, of course) as his fielding was exceptional. However, with Tendo and Snyman in my middle order and I don't honestly think he's better than Brian Hardie, the only person I could have picked him over was Craig Williams, and I like Craig Williams.

Similarly, Scott Brant would be eligible for this (at least theoretically). He represented Zimbabwe at age group level, I believe.

Neil Carter and Andreas van Troost could've also qualified. Unfortunate that Joyce, Hamilton, Brown and Di Venuto miss out.

Think Flower also represented Zimbabwe pre-Tests.

I reckon Penney would rival Hardie and Snyman, tbh. His county record is pretty damn good.

Should've picked him over Coetzer at least if I remembered him.
