AFL seems to be the only sport where teams can get run down after having a massive lead and the commentators never say how piss poor it is for teams to do that in any sport. Just don't seem to hear criticism when it happens.

I mean, if essendon loses this after leading by nigh on seven goals at quarter time, it's a flat out embarrassment.

Bigger issue is that they gave up the lead in 1 quarter as opposed to Collingwood slowly chasing it down and pipping them at the end.

Also NRL, that is what an actual big crowd is.

Assuming it's the same result either way, I'd rather losing the lead as we gained the lead (through a quick flash of goals) rather than a continuous slow decline

I don't see how the crowd is that big a deal really. They'd get that in Brisbane or Sydney for three non finals league games a year if hey had a stadium that big.

Please, nrl came in their pants when they got 50k last Monday and were so surprised with the crowd they had to delay the start of the match to accommodate everyone.

On the same day Hawks vs Cats got 80k+ and started on time. And it wasn't a special non final game.
