steve davis is a walking talking advertisement for drs. no it's not perfect, but it's better than the majority of umpires. human element can shove it.

edit: yeah drs would have saved dhawan too, before someone raises it. happy to cop that.

Tough on Boult, but it evens out the earlier lbw dismissal. Davis is a terribad umpire, but he does seem to do a pretty good job of distributing his ****ness evenly.

Speaking of umpiring, I was obscenely thankful that the McCullum/Watling innings wasn't ended by some horrible piece of umpiring. There were a few appeals (some I saw and some I only heard) where there was probably potential for a woeful decision and that would have been the match. Kettleborough was really good and Davis managed to not **** it up. Think Waddle on the radio made some snarky comment at one point 'nowhere near the edge but it's always heart in mouth when Steve Davis has to make a decision'.
