Well India just can't seem to figure out that mysterious puzzle they call "Kane Williamson" can they? it's quite remarkable how easily he's getting the better of them and yet in the previous series he was having major trouble against Holder. The bottom line remains that outside of their roads India's attack just looks substandard...they had a great spell in the first test vs SA but apart from that it's looked poor all the way through..Shami still has issues against left-handers. Ashwin has been demoted and is looking more and more like a sub-c bully, Khan looks done and the others aren't much cop either...

Now they will be relying on their batsmen to bail them out after NZ most likely posts 450 plus....but if Pujara or Kohli go early then they will be in desperate trouble methinks. In a way you've got to applaud India's cheek regarding the "big three"..struggle like mad away from home and yet they are calling all the shots now...it's a funny old game.

Agreed. They are still definitely a very strong team at home though, as evidenced by the beating of WI inside of 4 days in both the tests.

Is Ishant lucky or unlucky? Unlucky because he has always had the potential but doesn't show it. Lucky because he's played so many tests despite being the second worst bowler ever and has stolen Dhoni's heart.

Any Aucklandites around to indicate how much play is likely today?
I was just about to ask the same question. Anyone in Auckland care to stick their hand out the window to check for moisture?

Great day yesterday. Play certainly seemed much easier when the sun came out. I wonder if this might be one of those test matches where conditions are going to change quite significantly with the amount of cloud cover?

I think that was almost entirely coincidental. The sun just happened to come out once Williamson and McCullum had got set and the ball was old.

Auckland weather..

Very windy, stormy almost, muggy with a lot of cloud cover, probably get a shower here or there but I think we'll get a lot of play.
