India, Australia, England attempt to take control of Cricket

Solon are you remotely serious,i can see the BCCI bringing it back to 1 bouncer.
Couldn't get away with playing at home all the time, bilateral relationships wouldn't work,CA and ECB would pull out of the agreement.
Get rid of opening with 2 new balls in one dayers, and fielding restrictions, yes.
No udrs.
On 4 no spinner ever troubles India.
On flat pitches most of them are FTB trackers anyway.

care to enlighten?- dont get me wrong, i have no allegiance towards the SL cricket board, my love is for the country and its cricket..imho, the only difference between SLC board and Dick Turpin , is that the latter wore a mask..
They singed a sweat heart deal with BCCI after firing Fatman. with BCCI promising something like $70 million over 8 year period to support SL cricket. ICC and david morgan was pissed

I wouldn't mind it if they got rid of the 2 new ball rule.

yeah you're right, but lets not forget, this was nothing short of a bailout, irrespective of whatever anyone else says. That particualr board was also fired i believe due to this mess up. In terms of the cancelled series, i agree with the players going to the IPL on that occasion as their contracts were signed BEFORE the series was arranged by the board. This was meant to be a series with Zimbabwe for England wasnt it i think. If our players had signed their IPL contracts after the England tour was arranged then i would have no problem with stopping them. A contract is a contract n omatter whom it is with imho...

Shame that Arjuna was removed as he calls a spade a spade and that is what we need..on another note, irrespective of his amazing physique, he was an awesome leader for our cricket. I watched this docu about him and it was amazing how he knew how to rub people up the wrong way in order to destabilise their performances:ph34r:

As i said before,i have no affiliation for our board as all they care about is lining their own pockets..A wrong is a wrong whomever it is done by and i am certainly not hypocritical enough to avoid saying that this deal was completely wrong too...Hopefully we will stand firm on this current occasion, though i am yet to be convinced..

I have to say also the ECB are no different, remember a certain Mr Stanford, now rocking an orange jumpsuit in a room with a great view of iron bars? yeah, sure you can land your helicopter on our most hallowed cricket ground(as long as you bring a suitcased of money with you)

They might be, but if the proposal already has the votes then they don't need agreement from the last two boards, which is precisely the problem here - that countries that are a) not amenable to being dictated to; b) not competitive; c) not fashionable; d) have other issues (e.g. political instability), are isolated and allowed to fall off the wagon.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan are not all those things, and Ind/Aus/Eng will probably still have the sense to throw a few carrots their way at this point, however fundamentally there are no controls in place to prevent this marginalisation other than the kind ongoing benevolence of IndAus/Eng.

Don't think Pakistan have too much to worry about. There's too much money to be made from India-Pakistan series, and Pakistan are also attractive opponents for Aus and England. They're probably one of the few boards who can do and so almost whatever they want and know that there'll still be a place for them at the table when all is said and done.

I would imagine that cricket in Pakistan is or is not far away from being self-sufficient.

Sadly, it is not. PCB has almost always been inept and/or corrupt and has squandered opportunities. The fact that Pakistan can't play at home has meant a substantial loss of revenue. PCB can perhaps break even by hosting series against the rest of the world, but need an India series to make a profit.

he shouldn't fall for a one off UAE series though......he should know that in the future if the BCCI might just come up and say that our govt doesn't want cricket relations to be continued and nothing could be done about it. Would be an extremely short sighted view of things if he only has the indian series in mind (shortsightedness is not something I would put past the PCB though :p)
