***Official*** India in New Zealand 2013/14

BeeGee

International Captain
Anyone knows why Dhoni keeps opting to field? Is there any advantage playing conditions wise in doing that? (Just tuned in. Sorry if it is already discussed here)
Apparently he likes to chase, but he should have batted first in the last game and again today, imo.

Athlai

Not Terrible
Guptill with his 5th ODI hundred.

Only Fleming, Astle and Taylor with more. One of the most consistent performers for NZ in ODI history.

Batting is India's strength. They back themselves to reach any total. They don't believe they have the bowlers to defend.

NZ had the reverse situation in the late 90s - early 00s. Bowling attack of Vettori / Astle / Harris could strangle sides in 2nd innings as the bounce got lower. So batting first was the preferred option.
 Giving away huge totals and ending up short is India's strength currently

Top hundred. Tad sefish to play out 5 dots in a PP over though, must be said. Hopefully he can cut loose now.

Blocky

Banned
All the issues in Guptill's play have been there in this innings too. Terrible strike rotation, no ability to find the gaps and a reliance on boundary hitting to get his score going. That means he fails more often than he wins.

So no cricketing reason. Bowling is also India's big time weakness. Probably Dhoni should give bowlers the cover of big total to defend occasionally. Hasn't India lost 4 games in a row trying to chase? The bowlers are allowing opposition to put up a mountain of runs every game.
