Yeah, but Virat Kohli bowling you a half tracker at 100KPH.... I'd put money on Chris Martin being able to do something with that ball too.Although i don't think he should be turfed just yet, I totally saw where Blocky was coming from regarding Guptill the other night. Strong shots going straight to the fielders, no strike rotation. It was some shocking cricket from Guppy for most of the innings. That six he hit was so sweet though.
Yeah, but even Mitch and Southee with additional pace are going to the option too much and getting it absolutely wrong, look at how many balls they hit through fine leg off the bouncer. It's just too hard to defend against, as a surprise weapon and something you use against a guy like Raina, absolutely, bowl it. But as a standard option three to four times an over? No team, not even one with Kohli, should be able to chase 240 from 30 out on a slow wearing wicket with three wickets down. You're not in his head mate, give it a spell.
Anyway, fair enough for those bowling at 130km, but Southee/Mitch won't be and they'll be a lot harder to pull in front of square on a decent deck. Given we've played on those dimensions a fair bit over the past 18 months and India haven't at all, I'm picking we'll have a fair advantage in terms of bowling the right lines and lengths.
Are brain surgeons that useful in determining whether someone has a psychological disorder? Or are you recommending lobotomy? As for Guptill, doesn't take a brain surgeon to realise he has problems there.
Ok, let's not go crazy. I've seen Chris Martin get bowled by a straight half volley from Paul Collingwood.Yeah, but Virat Kohli bowling you a half tracker at 100KPH.... I'd put money on Chris Martin being able to do something with that ball too.
No, that's not the realm of a brain surgeon at all. It takes a clinical psychologist. He's struggling mentally, no doubt. But that does not necessarily cross into any sort of territory you're speaking of. Depression is an illness that does not discriminate against guys in a rich vein of form or on a string of ducks. He could well score 100 on Sunday and be on top of the world - that's not depression, which is also where the media got it so wrong with the Trott situation. In Gup's case, it's entirely possible he can be low on confidence without describing it being anything more troublesome. But again, you nor I are fit to make any diagnoses.Yeah, but even Mitch and Southee with additional pace are going to the option too much and getting it absolutely wrong, look at how many balls they hit through fine leg off the bouncer. I could be completely wrong here but my understanding was Gary Hermansson was on a consultancy basis.Don't most professional cricket teams these days have their own psychologist in-house, or is that just the richer teams like England?
It's called a joke, he told me I wasn't in his head, a brain surgeon would be.Are brain surgeons that useful in determining whether someone has a psychological disorder? Or are you recommending lobotomy?
baz is an above average odi captain and a below average test match captain. His decision to keep faith in corey was excellent. Captaincy made a major impact on the game last night.Another thing i forgot to mention, how good were McCullums field placements. He only had 2 fielders out on the boundary for the first 10 overs (fine leg and third man), meaning he had another man stopping the singles, with Williamson and Guptill at point/cover which is a big factor in why India were unable to get away at the start
I don't know about that really. He's certainly not as good as he is in one dayers but I think "below average" is harsh. Which five current Test captains do you think are better than him?baz is an above average odi captain and a below average test match captain. His decision to keep faith in corey was excellent. I have to pop out to cricket practice right now PEWS - so I will have to limit my answer to saying I am not rating him against the current test match captains in the world as I don't see enough of Pakistan, SL etc. and I would even like to see more of Sammy before passing judgement on him.I don't know about that really.
