Harmer can bat though, so they might fancy him in for Peterson with the rest as it is.

Abbott can bat too, although tbf probably not quite as well as Harmer. They'd probably both bat below Philander at the moment, but Abbott is a bowling allrounder as well. I definitely get your point, but I think it'd be a big mistake, at home at least. Duminy taking over the spin duties would allow them to retain their 4-1 bowling balance and frankly I think it'd actually improve the standard of their spin bowling from what we've seen this series.

Whoever they pick as 4th seamer is a significant drop down from the current 3 - none of De Lange, Abbott or Kleinveldt have really kicked on

Abbott took 9/68 on debut earlier this year, has taken 122 wickets @ 21 for the Dolphins and is averaging 13 with the ball in franchise cricket this season. He's going fine.
