Nate has been in great batting form ever since my strong statements calling for his axing. WAC.

The early loss of the new zealand openers supports my theory that Kane should be opening as long as there are two new balls.

btw I can pick Narine every time now from our view behind him (which wouldn't help the batsman)

I'm not opposed to KW opening but Ryder-Guptill is an exceptional opening combo in ODI cricket.

Good point however...and especially true 2 years ago.
1) In today's game the 1st 4-6 overs belong to the bowler and are tough to bat in. Why expose Jesse to those overs. I felt he was in two minds with his shot today btw.
2) Kane seems to take 5 overs anyway to wind up. So putting him in a position where he can face the most balls will see us get the most out of him.
3) Ryder, granted it is a small sample size, has a killer record at 3.

Wow, the collapse in ODI attendances is pretty shocking isn't it? Looks like maybe 6 or 7,000 in on Boxing Day.

Holder was excellent with the new ball, but his lack of pace is definitely going to result in him getting exploited with the older ball imo, similar to Mills.

That extra height will still give him the advantage of bounce deep into the innings though.

When he gets going he can bowl 140/142..it was one issue he had last year but this year he's learned how to up his pace when needed..certainlya big talent for us and reminds me so much of Ambrose.

And just a comment about Hendrix saying he might be more effective in NZ than at home!!..well he got 4/12 against Pakistan this year at home..the boy is even better in th caribbean imo.

Anyway i can't argue with 156 all out...when you have three decent bowlers this is what can happen...in the tests only our spinner was decent and we paid for it..

It's not over yet though we still need to get those runs.
