That's the thing that angers me greatly... If the technology is used well, it could be a massive improvement instead of how it us now. So frustrating
The thing is, there are always going to be uncertainties. I really like the fact that the original call receives bias in the case of uncertainty.

However, "he didn't ****ing hit it" is conclusive. It's not an uncertainty.

thank you mark taylor for reminding me that if Root had been given not out, it would not have been over-turned.

Sure there are always uncertainties. And in case of an uncertainty it should be benefit of doubt to the batsman, instead of the benefit of doubt to the on field call. That's the fundamental flaw

Nah, I disagree with that. The on-field umpires should already be applying benefit of the doubt to the batsman, which makes it a moot point. If they're not, that's their failing.

But it's a split second instinctive decision. It just diminishes the effectiveness of all the tools at the third umpires disposal.

By your logic, even in stumping, runout calls, the third umpire shouldn't give the benefit of doubt to the batsman.

There is nothing more consistent in cricket then KP taking a semi-risky to risky single to get off the mark.

TMS talking right now about how they have to amplify the sound in order to make it visible on snicko

EDIT: Daniel Brettig @danbrettig
Umpires were briefed on Realtime snicko before the series to expect the noise after the ball has passed the bat. #ashes
If what Brettig says there is true then why not announce that to everyone so people don't think a shocker has been made?
