So you're telling me that there any any fc keepers in OZ "capable" of keeping as badly as he did in the first 2 tests and averaging 22 with the bat for the series

Sorry but there are probably 6 guys in Oz that would make the same contribution

Overall, he had a ****ing shocker and at 36, it aint getting any better

So mount an argument in Brad's defence

Is it his appalling keeping in the first 2 tests or his series batting average of 22 that makes him so indispensable?

Please don't bring up the world record dismissal tally or I will simply respond with " Joe Root says hi" as that little clanger only cost us a test match

And please don't bring up any bs about injuries or family illness as that has been used for years already

I assume there's a good reason for discounting his form in the last 3 tests? and ftr his form in the first 2 was hardly appalling certainly an improvement on wade

and I highly doubt any of Paine, Hartley or especially Ludeman would have done much more with the bat

As the old saying goes, you're only as good as your 4th and 5th most recent Tests.

I actually think social has somewhat of a point in that Haddin has been poor for a fair while now. Every man and his dog on this forum wanted him dropped before the unfortunate incident with his family that saw him return from the West Indies, and that seemed to be forgotten by the time he returned to the side courtesy of Wade being terrible. If I thought there was a decent alternative then I'd be all for dropping Haddin, but I don't see one. Big runs from Nevill or Paine this summer or vast, vast improvement with the gloves from Wade could change my mind by the end of the Shield season, but Haddin should definitely be the Test keeper for now.

It's like people want to rewrite history and forget Haddin was injured for a large portion of the year in the lead up to his daughter getting cancer?

So you got nuthin' - AGAIN

I'm sure it's a thrill for you to take a minute away from your roast dinners and converse with me, but take the hint ffs - I'm not interested in talking to someone who has no idea what they're talking about.

Please phone Ian Chappell and bother him instead.

I'm no Haddin fan and feel he is just one poor series away from getting the axe. Jimmy P to take over in the biggest shock since Agar.

Yeah, I tend to agree with this. Haddin hasn't been at his best since his return, but he's still better than the alternatives as a package. Wade might have made more runs in England, but his wicketkeeping would doubtless have been poorer. Paine and Hartley might well have kept better than Haddin did, but don't have the same batting strength that Haddin has proven. Yeah, Haddin hasn't been great. But we've proven that the alternative everyone wanted 2 years ago is significantly worse.

If Nev makes runs, I'd take him ahead of Haddin.
