This is why McCullum manages to have a poor technique despite having a nice stance and quick feet. You can't jump sideways and keep your head and body still enough to play a ball that you now have to catch up with because it's behind your backside.

Last ball of the day too ffs. Just so, so dumb, and what fans have come to expect from a 32 year old who is meant to be playing with the maturity expected of the skipper.

Way to throw away a good start. Anderson/Watling and the tail have a lot of work to do tomorrow.

Looks like his elbows were locked too when he tried to play that. Will need to see the side on again because I was too busy hoping never to hear Rahim appeal again.

This is so disappointing. Especially now that Anderson doesn't get the chance to bat in partnership with a specialist batsman.

Such crap. Looks like we are dominating the day, but one by one gift three wickets to infield catches in front of square. Then of course an actual wicket happens and a mistake, and suddenly we are firmly behind on a 500+ pitch.

Reminds me a little of the tour of Zimbabwe a while back - it was the top order gift wickets that hurt us later in both matches and almost led to Zimbabwe taking one.

Seriously? To the second to last ball of the day? And after he'd nearly been caught two balls previously? What a ****ing ******. This is why McCullum will never average more than 30 in test cricket (when adjusted for minnow-bashing). Is it about the right time to crown him as the biggest waste of natural talent in New Zealand sport?

Bangladesh's day now. If they can chip away early tomorrow morning and keep New Zealand to around 350, they'll have the best of the batting conditions and the opportunity to build a big lead going into the back end of the match.

so realistically we need what, 450? I can see us getting 400 easily enough (unless we lolcollapse like usual), but 450 might be pushing it.

Wouldn't that be the guy in your avatar?

NZ will claw their way to 370-ish I figure. I have to say that it is extremely rare to see a smile on Williamson's face. Lad always looks worried, something that McCullum should look but doesn't :)

On a side note, wrong thread and all, but are there 13 players playing for each side in SA v PAK-A or has my brain gone insane?

Boult is the only genuine tailender in the side, so 400+ should still be gettable. But given that up until the 5 minutes before stumps, 500 looked a dead-cert, that's still a big under-achievement.

Who is Alok Kapali? I know he is a former Bangladesh player.. but by saying Ayub is the next him, what do you mean?
A guy who failed at both legspin and batting, I hope Ayub turns out OK but I get the feeling he might go down the same path

It was a good day for NZ until it all went to pot late on. It brought back memories of our first test against them last year and everything seemed too easy and then suddenly you've lost three wickets in five overs and all the hard work goes down the drain.

The concerning thing for NZ is if the spinners are getting wickets now what will it be like on the fourth and fifth day? I'm sure NZ can reach around the 370 mark but then you'll need your attack to step up. The problem i see is new spinners rarely make hay in Bang these days!!....Narine will tell you that, so how Sodhi will fare remains to be seen. The pace attack is also a little uncertain to me!!..Boult is very good but Bracewall seems to have regressed over the last few years!!..so his role will be important aswell.

Bang have managed to make 500 scores vs WI and Sri-lanka so it will be interesting to see what they come up with on this track now!!..if they get ahead of NZ then it's gonna be an exciting finish that's for sure.

Will be interesting to see how NZ's bowling attack goes. It's probably suited to a flat pitch with their variety - but it does look a bit hopeful too. It's like oh look we don't have 4 bowlers we can trust, or we don't know what balance to go with, so we'll pick options and hope for the best.

Travesty that Razzak got so many more overs than Shakib Al Hasan. Bowl the guy who can actually take wickets, even if he was expensive earlier. Better than perpetually non-threatening rubbish.

Having said that surprised NZ didn't play Gillespie when they have such a speculative attack on dead wickets.

Nah Gillespie isn't in top form so he doesn't play. He's the sort of bowler who is either on or off and when he's off he's no where near test standard so playing him here would be suicide.

Meh, don't see how a partnership with Watling should be treated any differently.
well he's joining a partnership with Bruce Martin now.

I like Watling too but it would've been nice if he could have gone in with Taylor or Williamson there.

It was such a dreadful shot. Just jumped across his stumps for no reason to be plumb.

The idea of playing across the line in the last over of the day on a low, slow pitch, not even looking for a boundary - that shot would've got him 1 or 2 max - just boggles the mind.
