Don't like to do it but it is hard not to be a bit excited but Ross Barkley.

An awful lot to like about this Everton side, Chelsea solving their striker problem for them has certainly helped.
Everton were brilliant in the first half, Barkley, Lukaku and McCarthy were all excellent. They play some great stuff too. Think Barry is the key signing though, organises them and the younger lads seem to trust he will cover them if they make a mistake.

As for newcastle though, ouch. Cabaye changed the game at half time but game was up already. He is a fine player though.

To be honest, it hardly puts me out. I'll just have to go to the pub rather than sit at home/in my office and watch it on my lonesome like a sad bastard. Being able to watch it at home would allow me to convince myself that I was actually doing work at the same time, however.

At least we won't have to suffer the awful ITV commentary/punditry though.

I'd have Vidic partnering Kompany no question.

People go on about how missing Kompany made City look vulnerable last season, but when Vidic came back after a long term injury for United the difference was clearly visible too. And missing him the season before probably cost us the title.

Since he has fully recovered from his long term injury, towards the end of last season he has been great as well. Don't think he's had any other injuries as well after that ?

Vertonghen would be the other shout probably AFAIC.

I don't think Ferguson was up to sticking it out for another 3-4 years that would be required to rebuild the side.

I can't remember if I mentioned it on here or not, but the other day I was thinking through who I would pick in a Premier League XI and who I'd supplement that XI with in terms of making a "best of" squad. In terms of the first XI, only RvP gets in the side, and I can only really think of Michael Carrick, and maybe Patrice Evra who would challenge for a place in the squad/on the bench. Which is incredible for a team like Man Utd.
Surely, all of Vidic, Rafael and Rooney have a better shout than Evra ?

Cech/Lloris

Zabaleta/Rafael
Vidic
Kompany
Baines

Carrick
Toure

Mata
Ozil
Suarez

RVP

Would be my team, if all are fit. Probably not the best balance but meh.

Depends on the criteria though as Ramsey gets ahead of Carrick based on form this season. And Coleman probably a shout at Right back based on current form again.

If we're playing Rooney as a striker, then RvP, Suarez and Aguero all comfortably get in the squad in front of him.

As an AMC in a 4-2-3-1 there's at least 6 players I'd play before Rooney.

Some finish that.

Details please.
Well it's not much, really, just Rosicky in for Gnabry, and it's somewhat forced by the latter having played three games in a week. But it certainly gives us more passing midfielders than we would usually play if we had Theo, the OX or Podolski.

Ozil WAG. Love how he's had a hand in more or less every goal Arsenal have scored since he joined. Is making such a difference. <3

I know I've said it already, but Ozil makes such a difference to this side. Napoli haven't really been at the races perhaps, but Arsenal look threatening every time they get the ball.

Well was hoping for more of a contest but that was just brilliant from Arsenal.

I can't believe that Ozil actually plays for Arsenal.
