It was supposed to be a 7 match series but then the BCCI realised that India needed to actually play some Test cricket to retain their no 1 ranking so changed it to a 2 Test, 3 ODI series.Didn't the same thing happen before the last series? Or was it just the Tests.
Think it was just a 2 Test series. IIRC we played 3 ODI's against Sri Lanka. It was supposed to be a 7 match series but then the BCCI realised that India needed to actually play some Test cricket to retain their no 1 ranking so changed it to a 2 Test, 3 ODI series.
haha yeah, Malinga and Matthews pulled off a miracle in the first game I remember, only SL fans bothered turning up.Think it was just a 2 Test series. IIRC we played 3 ODI's against Sri Lanka.
You played three ODI's in India as well.Think it was just a 2 Test series. IIRC we played 3 ODI's against Sri Lanka.
Yeah it's ridiculous. God forbid we have guys get a solid build-up before a test series instead of hit and giggle. Was pretty annoyed last night when my mate told me we've got a ****ing seven match ODI series in India after the five in England. Means there'll only be 19 days turn around from Bangalore to the Gabba, probably with precious little first class practice in between for the Test players. Seriously, who schedules these ****ing things? I don't even want to watch five ODIs, let alone bloody seven.
So we did. Completely forgot about that. You played three ODI's in India as well.
Yardly the most memerable series. Two of the three games were abandoned without a ball bowled. So we did. Completely forgot about that.
With the final ODI being on Nov 2 and the first Test Nov 21, I think the gap is sufficient enough for our Test players to stay on for the full ODI tour. Hopefully the Shield schedule is made with some thought so everyone can come back and play a couple of matches. What I don't want to see is Test players like a Smith or Starc over in India but sitting on the sidelines when they could be playing Shield Cricket. I also wouldn't pick Warner, he is one bat that could really benefit playing for NSW early season. No test players will play the backend of that series at least, might play the first three or four. People moaning about too much cricket is a bit of a pet hate for me really, you'll get to see a few second string players get a go. No bad thing.
Yep. Plus a lot of our ODI squad isn't really in test contention for the first test (imo). Particularly if Warner and Smith fail to secure a spot in this upcoming series.Test series in India for Australia before Ashes have been worse than any ODI's ever will be tbh. Last two times it's resulted in batsman's confidence getting shot and their best spinner getting dropped.
Incorrect.Think it was just a 2 Test series. IIRC we played 3 ODI's against Sri Lanka.
Ambrose/Walsh/Marshall. Pretty good attack that one.Unbeaten since 1st Test: Australia v West Indies at Brisbane, Nov 18-21, 1988 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo
Time to put an end to that, seriously.
FMD, that is ridiculousWas pretty annoyed last night when my mate told me we've got a ****ing seven match ODI series in India after the five in England. It's a real pity Finch can't put it together in the longer form of the game. He did score a couple of 50s in South Africa though. But he excelled more in the one dayers over there as he always tends to do.FMD, that is ridiculous
Should just select Finch as captain with the balance of the squad made up of his clubmates
