*Official* Second Test at Lord's

I tell you what annoys me about Anderson - that you can still see weakness in his eyes and body language. There is relief in his wicket celebrations. The guy is second only to Steyn right now, yet you can see, somewhere in there, the man doesn't believe in himself. It's fundamentally a part of his personality and he'll always be like that. It's the same with Bell - you can still see the scared kid, but he has worked tirelessly to get himself into a good place. These guys killed us at Trent Bridge. I have a huge amount of respect for the management structures in the England camp turning these guys into reliable performers. It annoys me, because you see the eyes and think there is something to expose. But there isn't. Not anymore. England deserves a lot of credit for what it has done with both of these young men.

reckon there's still plenty of doubt behind Bell's eyes. Anderson on the other hand though is a pretty special case. It's hard to think of a player who has legitimately lifted his game to such a relatively high level after years of being mediocre.

Yeah you're right. It's not sound to say that there's *nothing* to expose. But these are two prime examples of cricketers who wouldn't normally make it due to what's going on upstairs. And they've been able to turn that around. Where would England be without Anderson? Management success story.

Would Lyon have copped crap for not bowling cause he had a sore finger? I think he would. Yet Agar was ok cause he's a kid and he can bat.

He was absolutely dreadful in his first Ashes series. I mean he really stunk. Pathetic. In his second series he'd improved to being crap. His third series he was good, and now at the beginning of his fourth, he's very, very good.

I feel sorry for Lyon.
I don't. Worst case scenario is he's played 22 matches of Test cricket, travelled the globe and been well paid for it. If he's mowing the grass at the Adelaide Oval next summer instead of playing the Poms he'll still be a lucky fella.

This is his 5th series.
