***Official*** New Zealand in England series 2013

it's not so much during his commentary but during his pre and post series analyses that he says this crap.

Pre England in NZ, it's fair enough and is indeed calling a spade a spade.

Post that series saying the crap he was spewing was just stupid.
Very unfair imo. Boycott has generally been pretty good, recognising that NZ should've won in NZ. And last night on the tms rapup, when Agnew said that England had given away the initiative, Boycott basically said "No, Southee and Williamson bowled really well. England didn't give up the initiative - Nz took it back."

I don't have an issue with any of the commentators.

And even if they were being knobs, you don't win them over by pleading for respect. You smash your opponents and make them respect you. New Zealand haven't been doing that and until it happens they will continue to be patronised by the more biased opposition commentators and lazy websites like cricinfo.

Williamson bowling decently will surely see BMartin get the boot?
Depends. Can Williamson be relied on to bowl 20 overs a day - and even if he can, should he?

Today and yesterday showed that New Zealand badly needs a spin bowler bowling a decent portion of overs in order to get the full 90 delivered in 6 and a half hours. But I'm concerned about giving KW too much work to do with the ball. He's only 22, and has a lot improving to do as a batsman as well.

Came in quite a bit (reverse swing I think) at a very full length, tough ball to get early, but Bluey didn't cover himself in glory with the shot, that's for sure.
Do they seriously call him Bluey? I know his dad was but so was his older brother who played a few FC games in the 90s. It is one thing to use your dad's nickname but another to recycle your older brother's

or the quicks could just get on with it. When the oppo is going at twos it shouldn't be difficult to get 15 an hour from any sort of bowler.

How often will the run rate be 2, though?

Anyway, this will be a non issue if Vettori is ever fit again. He will never win us a test but he'll keep it tight.

Maybe I'm confusing Boycott for someone else. I can't find the article where he says the things I was saying.

Yeah but the fact that we couldn't manage 15 an over even against stonewallers shows that we really should work on improving that without compromising our strengths. Sending down below par bowling just to get through overs quicker is so **** and anti-cricket, it shouldn't come to that.

Williamson had some footmarks to aim at, but he is a part-timer and can't be relied on to take on the duties of a specialist spinner, in saying that, I think NZ should play 4 seamers at Headingly.

I think KW is becoming a very handy all round cricketer actually. Excellent in the field and produces wicket taking deliveries with the ball, which is a great value to have in your 5th bowler.

I wouldn't rely on him to play as a main bowler but he's better than part time.

Yeah but the point is that we clearly don't have anyone who can be relied on to take the duties of a specialist spinner so why play one

It's a ginge thing, isn't it?

Everyone with red hair stands a pretty fair chance of copping "Bluey" as a handle, like "Dusty" for Millers or "Chalky" for Whites.

Loved seeing the highlights of those wickets last night. Three more for a Southee 10-fer

That said, conceding a piddling 25 run lead instead of accumulating a piffling 20 run lead looks like it will make the difference between a loss and a reasonable chance of a win. Fulton is Fulton, Rutherford and Brownlie prefer quicker pitches, Watling didn't look in good form, so that leaves the usual suspects to score the runs.
