The guy is showing some guts, no doubt, but let's not get carried away and make out he's one of the top handful of batsmen in NZ :p
I'm not advocating a move up the order or anything like that. He clearly doesn't have all the skills necessary for a middle or top order batsman, but he seems to have grasped the basics better than, say, Peter Fulton or Tim Southee. One of whom is an opening batsman, the other currently holds the crucial number 8 spot. It seems a vital skill for either of those positions.

How long is Guptill out injured for? Possible return for the 3rd Test?

Watching Southee this morning was so frustrating. Got to question his effort, especially with the way he bowled in the first innings. If we're talking about bringing Bracewell into the team for the 3rd Test, I would of thought cut Southee loose based on how Boult and Wagner are performing at the moment.

Did anyone hear on when NZ last had a full-house for a Test day?
