International Coach
Ponting is an ATG and comparing him to any current Aussie batsman is unfair, but the fact of the matter is Hughes was the leading run getter in SS this season till the last leg of the competition began and then he scored runs against Sri Lanka too, so he did all he could do in the conditions he was familiar with, and then to expect him to replicate the same form in totally alien conditions is unfair and unrealistic.Firstly, Hughes has hardly scored "thousands" of runs
Secondly, Ponting doesnt seem to be having too much trouble
I agree that Hughes should be playing ODIs but that still gives him a lot of time to improve his game elsewhere
Also the work has to be done by Cricket Australia and its management and not only by the player, when a guy like Neil D'Costa expressed desire to work on few things with Hughes before this tour he was bluntly refused, then the role of these national coaches is also questionable as to what they are doing there, if a player has to go out of the team everytime a technical glitch pops up.
