He should have certainly been selected, over the Bresnan that turned out. But it was hardly facepalm stuff unless they knew that Bresnan was completely unfit.

It's one of those things that the selectors are more culpable for than the armchair fans. They should've known Bresnan wasn't fully recovered/fit and they had a better look at the conditions before the game than we did too.
