Very happy for Murray. Good on him.

If you had told me he'd win the first 2 and then lose the next 2, and come out to win the 5th I'd simply not have believed you. Great turnaround.

Novak playing 8 sets in 2 days can't have helped.

Well done Murray. Great to see a bloke knock down a few demons.

Epic sporting year for GB (not England, they still suck).
Has been, actually. We now have three genuine contenders for the BBC Sports Personality who've all broken new ground for Brits. Each of whom is a fork in the eye to the middle-England tory establishment:

Bradley Wiggins (Tour de France & Olympic gold; born in Belgium to an Aussie father)
Mo Farah (5000m & 10,000m double; Somalian refugee)
Andy Murray (US Open, Wimbledon final & Olympic gold; dourest Scots Presbyterian this side of Dalglish)

But we'll still give it to Jess Ennis 'cos she's fit and has nice abs.

Lol @ the whole fiasco where Murray couldn't find his Rado watch before the presentation ceremony and kept looking for it. Loyal to his sponsors is Andy.

To be fair, would have been in some **** if he didn't wear it whilst holding up the trophy.

Again, one of the most mind bogglingly common perceptions. Honestly don't know how people think that. Genuinely think he's impossible not to like.

Two breaks to start the match. Is this womens tennis?
I do find him funny itbt. And yeah he has been mentally weak at times, especially in the Australia heat, but he's a very humble champion, which is more than can be said Federer, who has fooled everyone in thinking he is humble.
Massively awta. Gutted the scot won

****ing Tomic, another tank job. Needs a slap across the face.

Meanwhile Hewitt really needs to just let it go. Getting thoroughly owned.

Holy **** at Djokovic's come back against Murray in the Shanghai final :-O!!!

Saves 5 championship points, and with Murray serving for the match and 30-0 up, Novak hits a ball between the legs and wins that point. Match turned after that. Freak of a tennis player.

Says it all that matches between the top 4 come down the odd point they are all that good.

Anyway would have been a bit greedy for Britain to claim a 2nd tour title in a few hours after Heather Watson won earlier.

12 months ago there was a reasonably gap between Novak and Fed/Rafa, and then a gap between those two and Murray.

That gap from 1 to 4 does not exist any more. Its incredible.

the strongest top 4 in the history of tennis...i can't think of a parallel to this...4 outstanding all court players who contend from the beginning to the end of the year...

A couple of questions..

a) How many Grand Slams ago did someone from outside this current top 4 win?
b) How many Grand Slams since neither finalist was from this current top 4?

I remember Del Potro's US win in what 2009, which is maybe/probably the answer to A.
