Vernon Philander - Here to stay, or a Flash in the pan?

And your in such a position to question Taylor?
Well he can't question him on who he found more difficult to face, but he can certainly question the assertion that Philander "got many wickets on the back of the pressure the former two had applied." Making batsmen feel more uncomfortable than another bowler does and being a better bowler than him aren't always the same thing.

I'm going to cry of happiness when Philander gets destroyed for the first time. Honestly, I can not wait

Thank you.

And in how many innings so far has Philander shown some signs of inconsistency, or anything to suggest he won't be an awesome bowler in the long term?

Philander will be quality. Whether he will be a <25 average quality or a 25-30 average quality remains to be seen

Australia had the chance to blood their own slightly late blooming unfashionable medium-fast accurate seam nibbler uber-wicket-taker-in-FC-cricket. And he didn't bowl badly in his 3 Tests to date either on unhelpful Sri Lankan decks. But then they dropped him for Peter Siddle and he hasn't been seen since......

We're taking about the "c" word here are we?

In all fairness to Big Vern he's appreciably quicker than Copeland; in fact his average speed doesn't lose much in comparison with Anderson, Bresnan or Broad if the just concluded test series is anything to go by.

Didn't Copeland stink out the joint in 2011/12 too?
