Seemed a decent crowd for that last game. Obviously cheering on the Indians as much as possible, but seemed to appreciate good shots/play from us too. Looked like a decent turn-out for what can't have been a particularly attractive Test series. Must be fantastic for the players to get to play in front of decent Test crowds.
Good cricket wicket and good crowds. Bangalore (y)

Crowd throughout this match was pretty good.

Also, the crowds for the first match by Hyderabad standards was good. Though, that stadium being located a decent distance outside the city in a still developing area doesn't help.

Yes test crowds in the big cities are usually at least decent. Calcutta, Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Every single test should go to one of these six and the smaller cities should get more ODI's and T20 game to compensate. That way everyone is happy. However the BCCI in its wisdom has allocated yet another test match to Nagpur. :wallbash:

Yea I was pleasantly surprised. Shows that if they play Tests in the right cities - they will get the turnout. Places like Eden Gardens should get a lot more.
Yes Eden Gardens should get more tests. It used to get one test per series pre-1996. Although the 3rd test in India-England series is gonna be played there...hope Kolkata seizes the opportunity and surprises everyone with a packed crowd in a test match.

They're more or less the same thing tbh. Don't see how it's condescending.
Indeed. I was talking about his overall contribution in both innings which I why I didn't just mention one knock; he came in with plenty to do in the first innings and put together a good partnership then too. To just mention the second innings knock would've been wrong. He played two of his best Test innings in this game alone.

Manee is just far too used to me ragging on Dhoni to see when I'm actually giving him credit. :p

I think we lost the game a) because Jeets was given out - he might have made another 15-20 runs which could have been handy.
b) because Martin Guptil had a mare in the 2nd inning and brought Taylor to the crease too early. I don't blame mccullum for his dismissal.
c) because although Jeets bowled some grenades to Pujara his spin dissipated against Dhoni and Kohli - there were just no big turning deliveries from him so he caused no problems towards the end of the game.

I honestly think Jeets did about as well as could be expected in the last innings.

As much as our batsmen improved from the first Test to this one, they're still the main reason we didn't win imo. They didn't score as many as they should have in the first dig and failed to ram home a smll advantage second time round. If we'd managed to win by bowling India out cheaply it would have been despite our batsmen not because of them.

Exactly. If we could just get our batsmen to stop getting out as much to dumb shots and get them to actually contruct more innings' at test cricket, we should be winning matches soon with our bowling attack.

T20 and ODI cricket is not helping in this regard, but it's the same for all teams.

Batting averages:

McCullum: 87 @ 21.75
Guptill: 78 @ 19.5
Williamson: 114 @ 28.5
Taylor: 157 @ 39.25
Flynn: 91 @ 22.75
Franklin: 97 @ 32.3
Van Wyk: 115 @ 28.75
Bracewell: 83 @ 20.75

Despite only being two tests a lot of those averages are remarkably close to career averages, or usually a few runs below.

And despite the fact that most people would agree that we bowled well this tour, the averages don't make good reading:

Southee: 8 @ 16.50, E/R 3.14
Patel: 7 @ 35.14, E/R 3.26
Boult: 5 @ 49.40, E/R 3.69
Martin: 1 @ 76.00, E/R 2.81
Bracewell: 3 @ 77.00, E/R 4.34

Feel for Boult in particular, he's generally bowled superbly yet looking at those figures some muppet could try and argue that he was rubbish. Just hope the selectorial pie chart doesn't dictate that he gets dropped next test..

the Hyd test ruined the figures for the bowlers. Boult, Patel and Southee bowled extremely well.

NZ bowling attack is really good could see them troubling a lot of sides at home however the batting is beyond awful Williamson the big disappointment for me.
