It's good for the Indian team and their supporters that they won so comprehensively. Hardly a flaw in this performance (fair, you can pick out the mix-up run-out, a dropped catch, poor strokes), but to gobble up the the Kiwis within three days is impressive. While this isn't the perfect performance or even the perfect team (spin is still a grey area given the selectors' current preference) there's a lot that India can take out of this event- if they can sort out their fast bowling resources (by sticking to four genuinely good picks and not diluting the base with nine blokes) and fortifying their spin base, they can mount another bid for the top spot in Tests. But first, they need to gobble up the Kiwis once more.
I'm quite surprised at that Ashwin/Ojha (and thus Indian spin in general) being sub-Bangladesh comment. Fair, I'm no big fan of either spinner, but if the Indians pick their best spinners, which these two are far from, they can assemble something better than England, and match Pakistan and post-Murali Lanka.
Instead of cluelessly bumbling with a batsman at six, they need to pick a run-scoring bowler if they're really, really serious about being the best Test side again. Ashwin v/s Raina (entire career averages) makes a case for that.
