Overrated/Underrated

Adequately rated.

Ashwell Prince?
Greg Mail was quite underrated IMO. Should have played a lot more FC matches than he did.

Prince I've always found to be slightly overrated - fantastic player, but not on the same level of his contemporaries in the South African side.

Continuing the South African theme, Jacques Rudolph

Over-rated (especially early). Smooth looking player but where's the beef? His name still comes up for some reason too.

Mark Waugh.

'Bout right IMO.

Justin Langer (as a player!)
was underrated for a while but in due course people started acknowledging his contribution to a great Australian side ended up as fairly rated.

Fanie De Villers?

Probably underrated considering how many people barely know who he is, but I don't think he was much more than decent as a Test bowler.

Ajay Jadeja.

Michael Kasprowicz?
Hard to say. On the one hand he was generally the fourth best bowler in his team, but when the other three were McGrath, Gillespie and Warne/MacGill that's no disgrace. However, a lot of what one would say are his virtues (Honest trier, runs in all day, hits the splice hard, never gives up) are equally true of Peter Siddle and, in fact, have become a CW meme in their own right, so there's a fair case to be made that playing with such strong confreres possibly obscured his short-comings more than would be the case if he was in the current Oz XI.

Maybe mildly overrated for my quid, but I am a fan of his (& Siddle's too, ftr).

Angus Fraser?

His average isn't quite the story though, is it? Only 18 Tests spread out over five years.
I can guess you never saw him bowl much would easily be a top 5 paceman today also he started at around 30 so missed on his best years.

under rated, still has a strong case of being England's best seamer since Willis aavg of 28 with very little minnow bashing.

IIRC Fannie De'villiers was very, very good. I feared him as much as I feared Donald in 96-97 when India played a couple of series against India.

hang on

State Vice-Captain
mankad? could make the team purely as a batsman or a bowler. had some excellent performances in the same match with both hats on. but seems to be somewhat underrated, methinks, on this forum, as well as generally.

gibbs? also underrated.

One good spell, tbh. Was rarely collared there in either of the series he played, but.

Probably about right.

Jamie Siddons?
Underrated my dear friend Corey.
However it was't really wise of him to sledge Steve Waugh. :D

Graeme Swann ?
