Congrats South Africa! What an amazing feeling they must have right now to be the new top ranked side in the world. I so envy them and their supporters. Great Test series as well. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well played Saffie after your domination of much of the series, would have been unfair if we somehow crept in, would have taken it though.

Philander the massive difference in that last innings, kept control of the run-rate and took wickets, decebt effort.

Good fight by England though, got things to work with now.

SA clearly the better team throughout this series and 2-0 is a fitting result to illustrate that.
I actually think 1-0 would've been more fitting tbh; they dominated the first Test but the next two were pretty much honours even. It's uncanny how often they play a whole lot better overall than the series scoreline ends up indicating though, so they were due a slightly flattering scoreline really, and slightly flattering is all it is. It's definitely a lot more fitting than 1-1 would've been anyway.

Yeah, TBF to the people that criticised Vernon, and I don't think I was one, he did look a tad unfit in the first innings, clearly bowls himself fit, maybe they should let him play more.

Botham looking a nob, is always fun though, even if it happens so much.

Think Atherton's stretching it to call Smith one of the greatest Test match captains ever.

Odds on the Saffers losing to the Aussies this winter?
Well to be fair on the Saffers we were suppose to get hammered in this series.

Any case well done Saffers no one gave you a chance and we will still probably here that they dont win close games even though they actually have but go figure.

Man there is so much to like about this south African team. Take out Tahir and bring back nicky boje and I would  them so much

Nah it's definitely not a flattering scoreline.

They played the better test cricket in this test by a margin, and if anything, only losing by 50 odd or whatever really flattered England.

Holding came around eventually it seems. Was praising vernon today, but I guess they had to
Yeah, even when praising him I felt they were a little patronising though, as if they were always trying to explain why someone they deep down felt should be so utterly mediocre actually wasn't. Nasser kind of started from that position and ended up respecting him properly while Holding and Botham just bagged him early on and had to begrudgingly acknowledge his efforts as a "useful cricketer" towards the end.

Agree, SA bullied England in the 1st test but the next two were very very close, with a few innings almost mirroring each other. England really needed to win one of the remaining test convincingly though to have deserved it but I'd have taken today if we'd have got there.

Well done to the saffas - didn't see any of the first couple due to holidays/olympics, but seems like the series win is well deserved.
