How many times as Steyn done that already, gone to play the ball to the leg side and it's gone the opposite direction.

Gullible umpires. :@

Oooh, safety first - we can't have a batsman wearing a load of protection being hit by the ball now, can we.

****ing ridiculous!

Time to put the dinner in the oven.
I meant he was taking the piss with his absolutely ridiculous innings; not the light thing. I'm one of the most critical people on this forum when it comes to umpires taking the players off for "bad light" but with only two overs to go and some of the floodlights at the ground deprived of electricity it did make sense. I'm surprised they didn't do it the moment those lights went out tbh.

Think England will be gutted they didn't finish them off for around 200 but tbf the pitch once you've negotiated the new ball looks pretty good. Obviously England need to wrap this up sharpish tomorrow morning and then the openers need to set a platform and see off the new ball, alot will depend on what the weather's going to do though.

hit him in the ribs. not the helmet ... think the bad light has affected your vision as well :)

pretty descent recovery for chokers ... the ball moved around alot today, far more than previous games, lets see what steyn and co does tomorrow with it, 250+ may just end up being a big score in this innings.

Don't personally think it did, at times at Headingley the new ball swung and seamed big time, here at Lords though once the ball softened it got far easier to bat on, we could see that from how the SA middle order played. There's definitely a bit more bounce than the previous pitches though and just like at Headingley when the clouds come the ball starts to do more.

Yeah the pitch wasn't a massive problem, particularly in the latter sessions, Jimmy bowled brilliantly, but there was some slack shots. I'm not happy with the situation, for reasons I've already bored people with, but normally this would still be advantage England.

Erm, where did I say he was hit on the helmet?

To think that players used to play on uncovered pitches and without helmets too. Players are treated with kidd gloves these days.

Batting looked a lot easier later in the day but Anderson and Trott were still able to get quite a lot of movement

Having said that, it still took a couple of strangles, a shocking decision and some kamikaze shots to put SA in this position (only Amla and ABDV were actually "bowled" out) and given that much of Eng's bowling was pretty ordinary aside from Anderson, I reckon they'd be delighted to have them 7 down

Poms so broke they can't pay their power bills now? :p

Decent Fightback from SA. They probably have enough given the discord in the England dressing room and the fact they're without their best player.

In fact, I suspect the dressing room has become a more tightly-knit place and may have developed a bit of a siege mentality. KP was always something of an loner/outsider, and the rest of the team could well be relieved that his disruptive influence is no longer there.

The Lord's pitch usually flattens out during day 2 and remains an excellent batting surface for the rest of the Test. So England may well pile up a big innings, with Cook (arguably their most reliable batsman) making another century and Trott being his obdurate self.

I seriously doubt that 250+ runs will be enough for SA's first innings.

I just hope there is not too much rain tomorrow and Steyn's batting luck has all been used up today. England can then finish the SA innings off in short order tomorrow and pile on the runs themselves.

We'll see......................

ive said this before, england cant win this... im just waiting for monday when i can post my " i told you so" in big bold red.... :)

today first half didnt go SA's way, but had nothing to do with batting skills, bad desisions dominated first half of the day, but even with top order cheated out of their duty the middle order proved we arent going to sit back and lose this.

and wait for our killer bowler combo ....

england is a good team, but they simply are not good enough, they been riding the rollacoaster to long playing weaker teams....

but yes, as you said. well see ....

I think the other raging extroverts in the England team like Cook, Trott and Bell would all be on KP's side here. Each would have their eye on Strauss' job. They'll be out tearing it up with Raufy as we speak, plotting...
