Anything that involves more cricket for Ireland has to be a good thing. Hopefully the ICC can also realise this and give them some games.

Looking forward to Ireland starting to perform consistently well on the world stage, that'd be sweet. It's great having more ODI's!

Associates need to play the test playing nations in short form a lot more for the betterment of cricket.

Still say Ireland should get more FC fixtures to play in.

Would be nice to see a competition where the A teams of the full member countries play against the tier below Test nation's teams in some unofficial test matches.

Its great that Ireland will likely get more ODIs but all it will mean is that they'll generally improve in the shorter format while at the same time the players themselves will be absent from competitions like the county championship where a fair contingent of Irishmen play; and its the FC competitions that provide the basis for making a test side.

This is the right step for us. Chasing test status is stupid for the moment, we need to focus on improving ground up and getting more exposure (limited overs format is the best for this)

An annual first-class fixture between Ireland and England Lions would be a good addition to the calendar I think. Not sure where the ECB would be able to squeeze it in though.

Allow a two tier system FFS. First six teams can have two official teams playing lower ranked teams and associates as Ireland, Afganisthan and Holland. All of them can be treated as ODIs. The problems of a tight schedule also will be less with it.

Boyd Rankin retires from playing cricket for Ireland to concentrate on playing Test cricket for England.
Makes no sense to me. There's no way that he'll be consistently picked for tests. Broad, Bresnan, Anderson, Finn, and Onions will all be picked ahead of him, so at best he'll be England's 6th choice seamer. You could make a case for a couple of others being selected ahead of him, too.

His batting average suggests he'd bat at 11, so that's another thing against him.

If he ever gets to play a test for England, it'll probably be a couple of tests if/when England are going through an injury crisis, before being dropped again. Might get a few ODIs or T20s but he'll get that playing for Ireland anyway.

He's vastly under-performed for Ireland anyway. Probably the nation's most over-rated and frustrating cricketer. I'm sure he'll play for Ireland again soon once it becomes apparent to him that he's no chance of representing England.

Has no chance of playing for England. He has excellent raw skills but overall seems like a muppet to me, not the brightest. He's better of playing county and representing his real country when possible, but at the same time I can't knock a man for following his dream, however stupid I think it is.
