Will SA declare once Amla gets to 300, or once the lead goes over 200 runs?

Probably not much room for sentimentality, but you never know. Amla certainly doesn't look like getting out so maybe they'll wait for him to get to 300.

When was the last time that a wicket in England was accused of being "too flat" for cricket?

Cardiff rings a bell, or was it more just that it was so slow?
Yes Cardiff is usually a stinker and of course Lords has been called that a few times but I can't remember any of those been quite like this one. It's not just been the pitch, the lack of swing has been a real surprise.

I'd probably just declare at tea tbh. Have a proper slap between now and then though.

Would be shocked and disappointed if they declared if Amla gets there. 200 run lead seems too low. go for 250-300. England should past 200. 270 though adds a bit more pressure

And why should they declare just now? 55 more overs to be bowled in the day. They'd probably play for 25 more overs and try and add 110-120 more runs to the current lead...

I'd say the plan now is put the foot down till tea and see what the lead is then 20 minutes of mayhem after tea to try and get the lead over 300.

Yes that's the big thing, pitch looks flat and all that but setting a total is so different to batting to save the match, going to big pressure on England's batsmen.
