Nice to see Amla doing well. Hope he goes on to score a double.
1. The aim of DRS is to eliminate the howlers, not for teams to be gambling on reviewsReally, that 'half the ball' nonsense needs to be changed. Half the ball hitting the stump would break the wicket just as effectively as 10% of it hitting would.
We saw today the slightest tought of a medium paced ball on a bail and it is dislodged. So why does more than 50% of the ball have to be hitting the stumps to reverse an umpire's "not out" decision.?
It's just not logical.
It does, should be his last ever test but he will get the series and India tour to carry on messing up.That Bopara dismissal looks worse everytime you see it.
zzzzzzzzzzzBut, but.... It was overcast in the morning... The runs we got yesterday... Jimmeh's gonna love these conditions..... Foot marks for Swanneh mean an easy win..... 450 minimum here..... SA are rusty....
Which, frankly is bull****, as the one thing HawkEye has shown is that the stumps are wider than umpires used to think.1. The aim of DRS is to eliminate the howlers, not for teams to be gambling on reviews
2. Interests of tradition (umpire's call etc)
3. To allow for slight errors in the tracking system
Wait til you've been here a few years. It gets worse.zzzzzzzzzzz
Think a lot of the angst with it might be removed if you didn't lose a review for an out or not out which is an umpire's call, be it pitching in line or clipping the stumps.Which, frankly is bull****, as the one thing HawkEye has shown is that the stumps are wider than umpires used to think.
Calls him dozy, stating that he left his bat hanging out on Thursday wasn't aware that Bopara was batting yesterday TBH.He looks dozy and there was a classic example on Thursday when he was on nought and thought about hooking Steyn, changed his mind and left his bat hanging.
Perhaps Aggers was dozy.Aggers decides to criticise Bopara in his column stating.

Can never have too match beer mate!!!!Too much beers
Nah, HawkEye is waaaay too conservative when it comes to 'umpire's call.'Think a lot of the angst with it might be removed if you didn't lose a review for an out or not out which is an umpire's call, be it pitching in line or clipping the stumps.
The margin of error of the system equates to half the width of the ball, so to guarantee that the ball would hit the stumps, more than half the ball needs to be shown to be hitting. If less than half the ball is shown to be hitting then, in reality, the ball could be missing the stumps.Nah, HawkEye is waaaay too conservative when it comes to 'umpire's call.'
